ATLANTA — The new 2015 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid, a plug-in hybrid premium crossover, starts at $77,395, including a $995 destination charge.
The Cayenne S E-Hybrid makes "immense" technical progress compared to the outgoing Cayenne S Hybrid, Porsche said in a statement on Wednesday.
The plug-in hybrid combines a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine, electric motor and lithium-ion battery for a total system output of 416 horsepower. It sprints from zero to 62 mph in 5.4 seconds and has a top speed of 151 mph, the automaker said.
Porsche Car Connect is standard on the Cayenne S E-Hybrid. It allows the driver to access vehicle data from a smartphone.
Arriving at U.S. dealerships on November 1, the lineup for the 2015 Cayenne includes four versions of the vehicle: Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo and Cayenne S E-Hybrid.
Changes to the Cayenne include a new 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine for the Cayenne S. Design changes include new front fenders and hood, and exhaust tailpipes integrated into the lower rear fascia. The cabin gets a new multifunction sport steering wheel with standard shift paddles.
All Cayenne models feature an improved auto stop-start function.
The 2015 Cayenne S starts at $75,095 including shipping, while the 2015 Porsche Cayenne Diesel starts at $62,695, including shipping.
The top-of-the-line Porsche Cayenne Turbo starts at $114,595, including shipping.
Edmunds says: Porsche is touting the Cayenne S E-Hybrid as the first plug-in hybrid in the premium SUV segment. Now car shoppers know what the price of entry is for this highly anticipated vehicle.
