ATLANTA, Georgia — The base 2015 Porsche Cayenne SUV and the sporty Cayenne GTS will make their world premiere at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, with showroom dates set for the end of February, Porsche Cars North America said on Tuesday.
The base 2015 Porsche Cayenne starts at $59,295, including a $995 destination charge. The 2015 Porsche Cayenne GTS starts at $96,495.
"Compared to the previous model, the new Cayenne offers a more comprehensive array of standard features," Porsche said in a statement. "In addition to the new eight-speed Tiptronic S (transmission) with auto start-stop, these also include, for instance, the bi-xenon headlights with four-point LED daytime driving lights and the multifunction sport steering wheel with paddle shifters.
The new Cayenne GTS is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, which Porsche said is "a performance-oriented enhancement of the new powertrain recently presented in the Cayenne S." Power output is increased by 20 horsepower to 440 hp and torque by 62 pound-feet to 445 lb-ft.
The Cayenne GTS accelerates from zero to 62 mph in 5.2 seconds. A sport exhaust is standard.
Exterior touches include new GTS lettering on the front doors and a standard Sport Design package that bundles more contoured rocker panels and wheel arch extensions.
The cabin gets eight-way power GTS sports seats and GTS lettering on the headrests.
The base Cayenne is equipped with a 300-hp 3.6-liter V6 engine.
Edmunds says: The Cayenne aims to be sportier than the average SUV, and the new GTS model promises to please shoppers in this crowded European SUV segment.
