2015 Nissan Leaf Earns Four-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government


WASHINGTON — The 2015 Nissan Leaf electric car earned a four-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Five stars is the highest rating.

On sale now at Nissan dealerships, thhe 2015 Leaf earned four stars in the front, side and rollover crash tests.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2015 Leaf.

Standard safety equipment on the Leaf includes six airbags, vehicle dynamic control and traction control.

Key Nissan Leaf rivals include the Chevrolet Volt, Ford Focus Electric and Toyota Prius.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should note that the 2015 Chevrolet Volt earned the top five-star safety rating from NHTSA. The 2015 Toyota Prius earned a four-star safety rating. The 2015 Ford Focus Electric has not been rated by NHTSA.
