CYPRESS, California — The 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer sedan starts at $18,205, including an $810 destination charge, reflecting a $200 price increase over the 2014 model.

In Alaska and Hawaii, the destination charge rises to $935.

The midlevel 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer SE starts at $21,805, including shipping, reflecting a $300 price increase over the 2014 model.

Mitsubishi's 2015 Lancer Ralliart starts at $30,305, including shipping, reflecting a $1,100 price increase over the 2014 model.

The 2015 Lancer is a carryover model with minimal changes. They include new heated sideview mirrors on all models and a new $800 Value package that bundles 16-inch alloy wheels, a Fuse hands-free link system with USB port, high-contrast meters with color multi-information display, chrome interior door handles, soft-touch upper door trim and rear disc brakes.

A new Sun and Sound package is priced at $1,700 and includes HID headlights, a power sunroof and a nine-speaker sound system.

Key competitors to the Lancer include the Chevrolet Cruze, Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Mazda 3, Nissan Sentra and Toyota Corolla.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers in this crowded segment should be aware of the stair-step price increases on the various 2015 Lancer models.
