2015 Mazda 6 Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government


WASHINGTON — The 2015 Mazda 6 midsize sedan earned the top five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Mazda 6 received four stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The Mazda 6 is on sale now at Mazda dealerships.

Standard safety features for the Mazda 6 include six airbags, antilock brakes, dynamic stability control, traction control and brake assist. A rearview camera is added to Mazda 6 models with an automatic transmission. A blind-spot monitoring system and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on Touring models. A lane-departure warning system is optional on Grand Touring models.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2015 Mazda 6.

Key competitors to the Mazda 6 include the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata and Volkswagen Passat.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should note that the 2015 Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata and Volkswagen Passat also earned the top five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.
