BEIJING The 2015 Lexus NX, a new compact crossover that slots in below the Lexus RX, will debut at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show on April 20, Toyota said.

Edmunds expects that two versions are likely to make it to U.S. dealerships this fall: a hybrid version dubbed the NX 300h and a gasoline version called the NX 200t.

"The new model, based on the LF-NX concept car, marks Lexus's entry into the compact crossover market," said Toyota in a statement.

Pricing and technical details were not announced.

The original version of the Lexus LF-NX debuted at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show with an eye on targeting the Range Rover Evoque. The LF-NX proved to be a polarizing concept vehicle. But a new teaser photo shows a more conventional crossover with sleek lines and angular headlights.

The production NX, which likely will use the same platform as the 2014 Toyota RAV4, will take aim at the Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers can expect the 2015 Lexus NX to be priced around $30,000, which may make it worth the wait.
