IRVINE, California — The 2015 Kia K900 with a V8 engine starts at $60,400, including a $900 destination charge.

The K900 is the Korean brand's new full-size rear-wheel-drive flagship sedan.

A $6,000 VIP package on the V8 model includes a long list of items, including a 16-way adjustable driver's seat, advanced smart cruise control and power-reclining rear seats.

The uplevel K900 is scheduled to arrive in showrooms in the first quarter of 2014. It will be followed by the K900 Premium V6. Pricing has not been announced on the base model.

"The K900 Premium V6 will launch at a later date with an available Luxury Package and Technology package," said Kia.

The top-of-the-line K900 is equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The K900 competes with the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S550 and the Lexus LS 460.

Edmunds says: Judging from the positive reaction from car shoppers to Kia's K900 Super Bowl commercial, a $60,000 Kia should not be hard to swallow.
