FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California — The 2015 Hyundai Sonata midsize sedan will be the first Hyundai vehicle to feature a new augmented reality owner's manual app designed to make life easier for consumers seeking information about repairs, maintenance and vehicle features.
The Hyundai Virtual Guide will be available for the Sonata later this year and then will roll out on additional models.
Consumers can use their smartphone or tablet computer to learn about their vehicle instead of paging through a traditional paper owner's manual.
Users position their phone or tablet's camera over the vehicle part they want to learn about.
The new app recognizes more than 45 major features of the Sonata and contains 82 how-to-videos, 50 informational guides and six 3D overlay images that appear once users scan areas of their vehicle such as the engine bay.
Edmunds says: Tech-savvy buyers will love this easy way to get information about the Sonata.
