COSTA MESA, California The 2015 Hyundai Genesis will feature some new safety technologies, which were demonstrated in a blind test-drive conducted by the automaker.

Stunt driver Rhys Millen got behind the wheel of a Genesis with blacked-out windows to test the sedan's new Automatic Emergency Braking.

"Remember when your car didn't have reflexes of its own?" the company asked in a text that accompanied the video. "That was then. This is next. Using Sensory Surround Safety features in complete darkness, stunt driver Rhys Millen demonstrates Automatic Emergency Braking on the all-new Genesis."

The AEB system is designed to help avoid a potential collision or reduce its impact. The Genesis will use automatic braking whenever it detects another vehicle at an unsafe closing rate of speed. The system uses the Smart Cruise Control system and the forward camera from the lane-departure warning system to provide what Hyundai calls an "extra margin of safety."

The 2015 Genesis will arrive at dealerships this spring. Pricing has not been announced.
Hyundai Motor America warns consumers "do not attempt" a blind test-drive at home, since the test was conducted on a closed course with a professional driver.

Genesis competitors, including the 2014 Lincoln MKS, also feature high-tech safety options. Some versions of the MKS, for example, can be ordered with optional adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning.

Edmunds says: A dramatic way to prove a point about the safety capabilities of the redesigned 2015 Genesis.
