2015 Honda Fit Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The redesigned 2015 Honda Fit hatchback earned the top five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 2015 Fit received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The Fit is on sale now at Honda dealerships.

Standard safety equipment on the 2015 Fit includes electronic stability control, traction control, antilock brakes and six airbags.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the 2015 Fit as a 2015 Top Safety Pick. The Fit scored "good" ratings in four Institute crash tests and "acceptable" in the small overlap frontal crash test. The test is designed to replicate what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or an object like a tree or utility pole.

Key Fit competitors include the Chevrolet Sonic, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Accent and Toyota Yaris.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should be aware that the 2015 Chevrolet Sonic also earned the top five-star safety rating. The 2015 Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Accent and Toyota Yaris earned a four-star safety rating.
