DEARBORN, Michigan — A limited run of the 2015 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 to commemorate the nameplate's 50th anniversary will go on sale later this year at Ford dealerships, Ford announced on Tuesday.
Ford spokesman Brian Cotter told Edmunds pricing will be announced closer to the car's launch date.
"Only 100 Shelby GT350 models will feature a 2015 model-year designation before production switches over to 2016," Ford said in a statement. "Of these, 50 will be equipped with the Technology package and 50 equipped with the Track package."
The all-new 2016 Shelby GT350 was a highlight of the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Shelby GT350 is its own trim level within the Mustang lineup. The 2016 model sits above the base V6, midlevel EcoBoost four-cylinder and V8-powered GT. It will be offered exclusively as a coupe.
A limited run of 37 2015 Shelby GT350R models will be built in honor of the original GT350 competition model of 1965. 2015 Shelby GT350s will feature a unique 2015 VIN or vehicle-identification number.
In 1965, Carroll Shelby developed and sold an FIA-homologated Mustang called the Shelby GT350 competition model.
Edmunds says: It's not too early to start the conversation with your dealer. These cars are bound to be coveted by Mustang and Shelby enthusiasts.
