2015 Ford Mustang Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The redesigned 2015 Ford Mustang coupe earned the top five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On sale now at Ford dealerships, the 2015 Mustang received five stars in the front, side and rollover crash tests.

NHTSA has not yet rated the 2015 Ford Mustang convertible.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2015 Mustang.

Standard safety equipment on the 2015 Mustang includes eight airbags, along with a new glovebox-mounted knee airbag for the front-seat passenger and a driver's knee airbag. Other standard features include antilock brakes, traction control, stability control and a rearview camera.

Key competitors to the Mustang include the Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger and Nissan 370Z.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should note that the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro and 2015 Dodge Challenger also earned the top five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA. The 2015 Nissan 370Z has not been rated.
