2015 Ford F-150 Production Revs Up With Addition of 850 New Workers

DEARBORN, Michigan Ford added 850 new hires to a Detroit area plant that builds the 2015 Ford F-150, anticipating robust consumer demand for the redesigned pickup truck.

"The new jobs will support production of the all-new 2015 F-150 launching in a matter of weeks," Ford said in a statement on Monday.

The new jobs beef up the workforce at the Ford Rouge Center here.

Ford said other key details about the aluminum-bodied truck, including EPA-estimated fuel-economy ratings, are not yet available and will likely be announced in November.

Ford said the new F-150 will be the most fuel-efficient version ever.

"When it arrives in showrooms later this year, the F-150 will have undergone the equivalent of more than 10 million miles of torture testing," Ford said.

The F-150 competes with the Chevrolet Silverado, Nissan Titan, Ram 1500 and Toyota Tundra.
