2015 Ford Escape Earns Four-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2015 Ford Escape SUV earned a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Five stars is the highest rating.

On sale now at  Ford dealerships, the 2015 Escape earned four stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the Escape.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2015 Escape.

Standard safety equipment on the Escape includes seven airbags, including a driver's knee airbag. Other standard safety equipment includes antilock brakes, electronic stability control and curve control, which assists the driver by automatically slowing the vehicle when it's cornering too quickly.

Optional safety equipment includes a blind spot information system with cross-traffic alert.

Key Escape rivals include the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and Mazda CX-5.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should note that the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and Mazda CX-5 earned the top five-star safety rating from NHTSA. The 2015 Honda CR-V has not been rated.
