AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — The 2015 Dodge Viper SRT lineup will feature a new, mid-priced GT model, according to Chrysler.

The GT model adds a driver-selectable suspension system, featuring Bilstein DampTronic Select shock absorbers with street and track settings, a five-mode electronic stability control system and a unique interior with standard Alcantara and Nappa leather seats in black, Demonic Red or Sepia.

Dodge spokesman Dan Reid told Edmunds that final pricing and availability for Viper SRT models will be announced at a later date.

The GT model will slot between the Viper and Viper GTS models in terms of pricing, the automaker said.

The changes to the Dodge Viper SRT for the new model year are expected to make the sports car more competitive against the Audi R8, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Ford Shelby GT500 and Nissan GT-R.

As previously reported by Edmunds, Chrysler folded the separate SRT brand, which had stood on its own since 2012,  back under the Dodge banner earlier this year as part of a renewed emphasis on performance.

Dodge announced that all 2015 Viper SRT models will be treated to evolutionary developments on the 8.4-liter all-aluminum V10 engine that result in 645 horsepower (a 5-hp boost) and 600 pound-feet of torque.

The Viper GT and Viper GTS will be available in a new color, Stryker Purple, which Dodge says "is the perfect choice for enthusiasts who want to take their Dodge Viper SRT to the next level of exclusivity with a vivid and unique finish that reflects light to show off the dramatic curves of the Viper."

Also new for the coming model year is the 2015 Dodge Viper GTS Ceramic Blue Edition, with exclusive Ceramic Blue exterior paint, black accent stripes, special five-spoke wheels finished in Black Vapor Chrome, unique exhaust bezel, orange brake calipers and carbon fiber trim.

Inside, the Ceramic Blue Edition sports plenty of Nappa leather and Alcantara on the seats and other surfaces, silver and carbon fiber accents and special badges.

Only 40 of the Ceramic Blue Edition models will be built for 2015.

Those seeking a more visceral experience may opt for the new 2015 Dodge Viper SRT TA 2.0 Special Edition, an evolutionary advancement of the 2014 TA (Time Attack) model. Although road-legal, the TA is especially aimed at Viper owners who like to take their cars out on the track from time to time.

For 2015, the Viper TA adds even more downforce with revised aerodynamics and provides increased traction with what Dodge calls the "largest contact patch in the production car world," aided by Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires mounted on ultra-lightweight, multi-spoke Sidewinder II wheels. Handing is further improved with chassis and suspension components developed by SRT Engineering.

Braking on the TA is enhanced with Brembo two-piece, high-thermal-capacity rotors and pads. The brake calipers feature a black anodized finish with the Viper logo shown in TA Orange.

The interior of the Viper SRT TA 2.0 Special Edition reflects the performance-oriented nature of the vehicle, with standard ballistic fabric Sabelt racing seats in black with orange accent stitching. Three limited-edition exterior colors are available: Competition Blue, Venom Black and Yorange, which is new for this year.

Only 32 of the 2015 Viper TA 2.0 Special Edition models will be produced in each color.

Edmunds says: Whichever model a buyer selects, 2015 Dodge Viper SRT should provide plenty of excitement.
