The car will be equipped with a sunroof, 16-inch aluminum wheels, foglamps, MyLink infotainment system and other features.
The special model arrives at Chevrolet dealerships in March.
The color also will be available as a stand-alone $325 option on Sonic LTZ and RS hatchbacks.
Chevrolet has been putting an emphasis on limited-edition colors to create a buzz for the Sonic and to set it apart from such competitors as the Ford Fiesta, Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent and Nissan Versa.
Steve Majoros, Chevrolet cars and crossovers marketing director, told Edmunds that the limited edition Sonic, called the Bright Yellow LT promo pack, stickers for $1,295. If the equipment was ordered separately for a Sonic with the LT trim, the options would cost $1,820, he said.
“I am looking for things that will provide dealers something new for the spring selling season,” Majoros said.
He added that limited edition models are “a way to keep the product lifecycle fresh.”
Two special-edition 2015 Chevrolet Camaro models will be introduced in the spring. The 2015 Camaro Green Flash is painted emerald green metallic with gray stripes on the hood. The 2015 Camaro Commemorative Edition will be offered in Red Hot and Silver Ice Metallic.
In addition, Majoros said a limited edition Chevrolet Traverse SUV is being considered.
Edmunds says: The Sonic LT will give car shoppers a colorful option this spring.
