Car shoppers will see a $1,575 price cut on the base Cruze, courtesy of the new base model.
The previous base model, the 2015 Cruze LS, has a sticker price of $18,570, including shipping.
Information about the Cruze L is posted on the vehicle configurator at Chevrolet.com.
The 2015 Cruze is on sale now at Chevrolet dealerships.
Shoppers should note that this isn't a "stripped-down" version of the Cruze. The Cruze L comes with a long list of standard features, including 10 airbags, OnStar with 4G LTE and a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot for up to seven devices, power windows and locks and remote keyless entry.
The Cruze L is equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and six-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automatic transmission is not available on this model.
There is no similar price cut on the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze Eco or 2015 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel.
Edmunds says: Car shoppers get a nice surprise with this unexpected price cut on the base 2015 Cruze. They'll want to note that it's now less expensive than some key rivals, including the 2015 Honda Civic sedan.
