2015 Cadillac ATS Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2015 Cadillac ATS sedan earned the top five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The rating applies to rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the ATS sedan. The 2015 ATS coupe has not been rated yet.

The 2015 ATS sedan earned five stars in the front, side and rollover crash tests.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not yet rated the 2015 ATS.

Standard safety equipment on the 2015 ATS includes eight standard airbags. Ten airbags are available with the Driver Awareness and Driver Assist packages. Other standard features include electronic stability control with traction control and antilock brakes. A rearview camera is included with Cadillac's CUE infotainment system on sedan models. It is optional on the standard model and included with other ATS Collections.

The Driver Assist package, which is optional on Performance and Premium Collections of the ATS, includes front and rear automatic braking. This helps to prevent front and rear low-speed collisions via a progression of alerts that extend to complete braking, GM said.

The ATS is on sale now at Cadillac dealerships.

Key competitors to the ATS include the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Infiniti Q50.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should note that the 2015 Audi A4 and 2015 BMW 3 Series also earned the top five-star safety rating from NHTSA. The 2015 Infiniti Q50 has not been rated.
