2015 BMW X3 Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government


WASHINGTON — The 2015 BMW X3 SUV earned the top five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On sale now at BMW dealerships, the 2015 X3 received five stars in the front and side crashworthiness tests and four stars in the rollover crashworthiness test.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated the X3 "good" in all crashworthiness tests.

Standard safety equipment includes seven airbags, including a driver's knee airbag, antilock brakes and electronic stability control. Other available safety equipment includes a forward collision warning, blind-spot monitor and surround-view camera.

Key competitors to the X3 include the Audi Q5, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque and Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should note that the 2015 Audi Q5 earned a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA. The 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque and Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class have not been rated.
