2015 BMW 6 Series Arrives at Dealerships in Early 2015: 2015 Detroit Auto Show

WOODCLIFF LAKE, New Jersey — The updated 2015 BMW 6 Series, in coupe, convertible and four-door Gran Coupe models, arrives at U.S. BMW dealerships in the first quarter of 2015, following a world debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.

The revisions are designed to make the 6 Series more competitive against a growing list of luxury cars that includes the Audi A7, Hyundai Equus, Lexus LS, Maserati GranTurismo, Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class and Porsche Panamera.

Pricing on the updated 2015 6 Series was not announced.

"Pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date," wrote Matthew Russell, a BMW of North America spokesman, in response to an Edmunds query.

"All the models in the new BMW 6 Series lineup stand out with an adeptly modified design that exudes powerful sports performance and, at the same time, emphasizes the exclusive elegance of these luxury cars," BMW said in a statement.

Changes include a tweaked grille with fewer bars, repositioned front foglights and a new front apron.

New 20-inch multi-spoke wheels are optional and new exterior colors include Jatoba metallic, Cashmere Silver metallic, Glacier Silver metallic, Mediterranean Blue metallic and Melbourne Red metallic.

The cabin can be outfitted in either Dakota or Napa leather.

A new Black Accent package adds a grille with high-gloss black bars, BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line trim, high-gloss black tailpipe tips and 19-inch bi-color light-alloy wheels in a multi-spoke design.

The new M Sport Edition adds 20-inch M wheels, M sport steering wheel and M aerodynamic exterior treatment. The cabin gets a leather dashboard, ventilated front seats, contrast stitching and soft-close doors.

All three models get carryover engines. They include a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine producing 315 horsepower for the 640i or a 4.4-liter V8 engine with 445 hp. The M6 coupe, M6 convertible and M6 Gran Coupe are equipped with the 560-hp 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 engine.

Edmunds says: The BMW 6 Series rolls into the new model year with a head-turning look, rich interior and impressive performance.
