2015 Audi A6 and S6 Earn Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON The 2015 Audi A6 and S6 sedans earned the highest five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The A6 and S6 received five stars in the front, side and rollover crash tests. The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the cars.

Standard equipment on the A6 and S6 includes eight airbags, including knee airbags and hydraulic brake assist that automatically senses emergency braking and applies maximum available power boost to reduce overall stopping distance.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2015 Audi A6 and S6.

Key competitors to the A6 include the 2014-'15 BMW 5 Series, Cadillac CTS, Lexus GS and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should note that the 2015 BMW 5 Series also earned a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA. The 2015 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earned a four-star rating. The 2015 Cadillac CTS and Lexus GS have not been rated.
