2015 Acura NSX Set for World Debut at 2015 Detroit Auto Show

DETROIT — The production version of the 2015 Acura NSX coupe, which is set to do battle with the Audi R8 and Porsche 911, will make its world debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, according to Honda.

"The model will reflect the production design and specifications of the midengine Acura supercar that is slated to launch in 2015," Honda said in a statement on Wednesday.

Highlights for this iconic, Ohio-built sports car will be dramatic styling and a V6 hybrid powertrain with an advanced all-wheel-drive system.

Teaser images show a voluptuous NSX with curvy lines and a ruby-red paint treatment.

Pricing and specific launch timing for the U.S. were not announced.

Details of the NSX include a "human-centered" coupe "that responds to the will of the driver," Honda said.

"The next-generation NSX will deliver a 'new sports experience' true to its heritage and to the supercar concept that originally gave rise to the name NSX," said Mike Accavitti, Acura division senior vice president and general manager, in a statement.

An Acura NSX concept debuted at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, with Honda promising to launch the production version in three years.

The formal debut of the NSX is set for January 12.

Edmunds says: The long-awaited debut of the Acura NSX will be one of the highlights of the upcoming 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
