2015-'16 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Recalled for Missing Crash Pads

WASHINGTON — Daimler Vans USA is recalling three 2015-'16 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vans because they may be missing the required crash pads, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall also includes the 2015-'16 Freightliner Sprinter 2500 and 3500.

"The affected vehicles are configured to have super-high roofs, but may not be equipped with the required crash pads," NHTSA said in its recall summary. "If the required crash pads are missing, it can increase the risk of injury to a front passenger seat occupant if they are unbelted."

Daimler said it is not aware of any complaint or incident linked to the recall.

Daimler Vans dealers will install the crash pads. The recall is expected to begin by the end of June. Owners can contact Daimler Vans customer service at 1-877-762-8267.

Edmunds says: If you own one of these vehicles, it's time to make a service appointment with your dealer.
