TORRANCE, California — Toyota is recalling approximately 20,000 2014 Toyota Camry, Avalon, Highlander, Sienna and 2015 Lexus RX vehicles because of a possible fuel leak that increases the risk of a fire, the automaker said on Thursday.

The affected vehicles are equipped with the 2GR-FE engine, a 3.5-liter V6, Toyota said in a statement provided to Edmunds.

"In the involved vehicles, the end cap on the right-hand fuel delivery pipe in the engine compartment could have been insufficiently welded during manufacturing at the supplier," Toyota said. "In this condition, fuel could leak from the fuel delivery pipe and, in the presence of an ignition source, could increase the risk of a vehicle fire."

Toyota said it is not aware of any fires, crashes, injuries or fatalities linked to the recall.

No information about the recall has been posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle recalls in the U.S.

Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect the fuel delivery pipe and replace it with a new one, if necessary. A date has not been specified for the recall. Owners can contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 or Lexus at 1-800-255-3987.

Edmunds says: Toyota said owners of these cars will receive a notification by first-class mail when it's time to take the car in for service. But if you have an immediate concern, it's best to get in touch with your dealer.
