AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — The 2014 Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck with a new Black package starts at $43,335, including a $1,195 destination charge.

The package is available on the Ram 2500 and 3500 SRW, Crew Cab and Mega Cab, Big Horn/Lone Star and Laramie models with the choice of two- or four-wheel drive.

In comparison, the base 2014 Ram 2500 Tradesman Regular Cab 4x2 model starts at $31,035, including shipping.

The Ram Heavy Duty Black package is on sale now.

Chrysler said it decided to debut the Ram Heavy Duty Black package due to "an overwhelming response for the Ram 1500 Black Express package." The automaker said it set about to build the "baddest-looking factory-built truck on the market."

Details on the Ram Heavy Duty Black Package include an all-black exterior, 20-inch black aluminum wheels and foglamps. All bodyside badging has been removed, unless the truck is ordered with a 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel inline six-cylinder engine.

Driver-assistance systems on the special model include Parkview and Parksense.

The Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck competes with the 2014 Ford F-Series Super Duty and the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD and GMC Sierra Denali HD.

Edmunds says: If you want the baddest-looking heavy-duty truck, but don't want to bother with customizing it yourself, Ram has just the thing.
