AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — Chrysler has announced that the outdoorsy 2014 Ram 1500 Mossy Oak Edition is back in the lineup after a one-year absence.
The 2014 Ram 1500 Mossy Oak Edition trucks will begin arriving in dealerships early this year, with prices starting at $41,180, including $1,195 destination charge.
Chrysler first partnered with the Mississippi camouflage brand in 2011 to introduce the limited-edition 2012 Ram 1500 Mossy Oak Edition, designed to appeal to hunters and fishermen and outfitted in camo, inside and out.
At the time, Ram announced: "Ram is the official truck of Mossy Oak and Mossy Oak is the official camo pattern of Ram Trucks." Since then the partnership has continued, with Ram sponsoring a number of TV shows produced by Mossy Oak.
Now, the 2014 Ram 1500 Mossy Oak Edition extends the relationship by serving a significant portion of the Ram truck owner demographic. Chrysler says 30 percent of Ram 1500 owners hunt, 44 percent fish and 27 percent enjoy camping.
"Ram Truck is focused on the needs and wants of truck buyers," said Reid Bigland, president and CEO of Ram Truck Brand, in a statement. "Our Ram Truck owners are passionate about hunting and fishing. The Ram Mossy Oak Edition gives hunting enthusiasts a way to proudly proclaim their love for the outdoors."
Available exclusively as a 4x4 Crew Cab model, the 2014 Ram 1500 Mossy Oak Edition features bedcaps and tailgate covered in Mossy Oak's trademarked Break-Up Infinity camouflage pattern, with the same treatment available as an option on the lower cladding. The Mossy Oak logo appears on the rear-quarter panels.
Break-Up Infinity also highlights select interior surfaces, including the center column of the instrument panel and the door panel inserts. The Mossy Oak logo is embroidered on the four primary headrests, and buyers who order the optional leather seats will get the logo embroidered on seatbacks, as well.
For the first time, the new edition will be available with the RamBox cargo management system, in both 6-foot-4-inch and 5-foot-7-inch bed sizes.
Exterior colors for the 2014 Ram 1500 Mossy Oak Edition include Black, Black Gold Pearl and Prairie Pearl, mated with Canyon Brown and Frost Beige interiors.
Edmunds says: The truck should appeal to the significant number of Ram buyers who enjoy outdoor activities.
