NASHVILLE, Tennessee A 2014 Nissan Titan Crew Cab PRO-4X pickup truck that was customized by the public via Facebook is ready to tackle the Alaskan wilderness.

The truck stands out with a "Recon Titan" camouflage exterior wrap and all-terrain camping trailer decked out with a camp-style kitchen, tent and water storage.

The "Project Titan" modified vehicle will not be available for purchase.

Piloting the truck through the outdoors are David Guzman and Kevin McMahon, two Iraqi war veterans and Wounded Warrior Project alumni.

The emotional journey is designed to position the Titan as the "ultimate truck," according to Nissan. But the effort also steals some of the limelight from the redesigned 2015 Ford F-150 and other key Titan rivals, including the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, Ram 1500 and Toyota Tundra.

As the Titan faces off against some serious competition, the two veterans will set out in the one-of-a-kind truck that will be the centerpiece of a Nissan documentary set to debut in a YouTube series this fall.

The public voted on 10 different areas of customization on the Titan.

Details include a Nismo cold-air intake, Borla cat-back exhaust system and 18-inch Fuel Revolver D525 wheels with 35-inch Nitto Trail Grappler M/T tires.

Bulldog LED Lighting and an ARB Deluxe Bull Bar add some finishing touches to the exterior.

The cabin is designed for comfort with Katzkin leather-wrapped seats.

This is Nissan's second crowd-sourced vehicle project and follows the Project 370Z performance build in 2012.

Edmunds says: The journey of this special Titan and two special veterans promises to be one of the best reality series of the fall.
