The Pathfinder Hybrid undercuts its chief Japanese competitor, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The 2013 Highlander Hybrid starts at $41,030, including an $860 destination charge. Toyota has not announced 2014 Highlander Hybrid pricing.

The Pathfinder Hybrid is significantly less expensive than the 2014 Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid. The 2014 Touareg Hybrid starts at $65,080, including a $910 destination charge.

Fuel economy for the new Pathfinder Hybrid is rated at 25 mpg in city driving and 28 mpg on the highway, according to Nissan. The EPA has not posted Pathfinder Hybrid fuel economy numbers.
