WOODCLIFF LAKE, New Jersey — The 2014 Mini Cooper can be personalized with a wide range of interior and exterior accessories created for this redesigned model.
Nathalie Bauters, a Mini spokeswoman, told Edmunds that the new accessory lines will be available in the U.S. and that pricing will be announced in mid-April, just in time for the North American debut of the redesigned Mini Cooper.
Larger and more powerful than ever, the third-generation Mini Cooper can be outfitted with color-matched add-ons from up to four distinctive design families available this year for the first time.
Vivid Green, according to Mini, "gives accessories a youthful, fresh look with striking dashes of rich green against a black background." Speedwell Blue "adds a touch of sporty flair and a sense of tradition, thanks to a reinterpretation of the red, white and blue of the Union Jack, combined with a warm brown tone."
Essential Black features an "understated and elegant" diagonal checked pattern, while the John Cooper Works Pro design "reflects a passion for racing with a vibrant checkered flag in black, red and grey."
Interior and exterior mirror caps, a perennial favorite, are now available in Vivid Green, Speedwell Blue and John Cooper Works Pro, as well as the traditional Union Jack, Black Jack, Checkered Flag, and other patterns.
Roofs can be treated to nine different graphics, including several of the new designs, as well as the popular Union Jack, Black Jack, Gold Jack, and various checkered flag patterns. Side graphics, too, are available in a variety of new and traditional designs.
The 2014 Mini Cooper can also be outfitted with redesigned luggage compartment mats and trays, floor mats, wheels, hubcap covers, sunscreens and door-sill cover strips with LED lighting.
One especially interesting bit of technology is the new Mini key cap, which features an integrated NFC (Near Field Communication) chip for non-contact data exchange between the key and the owner's smartphone. Once synchronized, the press of a button can launch apps and activate smartphone functions like Bluetooth connections and volume control, as well as recognizing individual settings for Mini Connected Services.
Edmunds says: Owners have always liked to personalize their Minis and these new accessories make it easier than ever.
