FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California — The 2014 Hyundai Tucson The Walking Dead Special Edition starts at $29,775, including an $875 destination charge, making it the most expensive Tucson in the lineup.
The Walking Dead Special Edition, which debuted at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, is at dealerships now.
In comparison, the base 2014 Hyundai Tucson GLS starts at $22,325, including shipping. The previous top-of-the-line 2014 Hyundai Tucson Limited starts at $28,575, including shipping.
Details on the new limited-production Tucson include an exclusive graphics package, badging and a Zombie Survival Kit. The crossover celebrates the 10th anniversary of The Walking Dead graphic novel series.
The Walking Dead Special Edition features an Ash Black exterior with red accent graphics and roof rack cross rails. It will be offered only in all-wheel drive "to assist drivers when off-roading away from the undead," said the automaker in a statement.
The special model is equipped with a 182-horsepower 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine linked to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The cabin gets a black leather treatment. The survival backpack includes emergency drinking water, Kleenex and light sticks.
Hyundai has jumped on the zombie bandwagon with enthusiasm. The Korean automaker has come up with three Hyundai Zombie Survival Machines and The Walking Dead Chop Shop configurator app.
