AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — The 2014 Chrysler 300C John Varvatos Limited Edition starts at $45,475, including a $995 destination charge, Chrysler announced on Tuesday. It arrives in showrooms in March.
An all-wheel-drive version of the Chrysler 300C John Varvatos Limited Edition has been added to the lineup.
It starts at $47,975, including shipping.
The limited-edition model is designed to have a "Detroit-tough attitude" and is styled after the designer's cologne bottle, the automaker said.
Chrysler says the 300C Varvatos Edition, now in its second year, is one of the "fastest-selling limited-edition Chrysler 300 models."
Details include a unique Phantom Black tri-coat exterior paint, 20-inch cast-aluminum wheels and metallic finishes inside and out. The all-wheel-drive model gets 19-inch wheels.
Other exterior cues include LED taillights with blackened detail and dual-exhaust tips in titanium.
The cabin gets an industrial look with Pewter Metallic leather seats, along with a special analog designer clock. Seat stitching is patterned after the designer's fitted jacket collection.
The standard engine is a 292-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 linked to a paddle-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission.
An optional 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine delivers 363 hp.
John Varvatos is a menswear designer known for his edgy style. Women's Wear Daily praised his fall 2012 collection for its "rock ‘n' roll vagabond vibe." His clothes have been described as having a soft, raw and "lived-in look."
Many designers have linked their names to special versions of cars, although some of them never make it into customers' hands. Some of the more memorable examples include the Victoria Beckham Range Rover Evoque, which featured an exclusive matte gray exterior paint and rose-gold touches in the cabin and the Mini Cooper by Kenneth Cole with an exterior covered in studs.
Chrysler often turns to designers to give its products more showroom shine. One recent example: The 2013 Fiat 500 and 500c by Gucci Edition.
Edmunds says: Consumers should be aware that the 2014 Chrysler 300C John Varvatos Limited Edition is one of the most expensive versions of the Chrysler 300.
