2014-'15 Acura MDX Recalled To Fix Loose Bolt

TORRANCE, California American Honda Motor Co. is recalling approximately 106,000 2014-'15 Acura MDX SUVs in the U.S. because the air conditioner clutch drive bolt may loosen or break, the automaker said in a statement on Thursday.

The problem "could cause the AC clutch pulley drive to fall under the vehicle while in motion, potentially presenting a hazard to other vehicles," it said.

No crashes or injuries have been linked to the recall, which was discovered through warranty claims for inoperative air conditioners.

Acura dealers will replace the AC clutch drive bolt. The recall is expected to begin in late July. Owners can contact Acura customer service at 1-800-382-2238.

No information about the recall has been posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle safety in the U.S.

Edmunds says: This recall does not begin for a month. Owners with an immediate concern should contact their dealer now, while others should wait for their official recall notice.
