AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — Chrysler is recalling 421 2013 Dodge Dart Mopar 13 special-edition models because of a potential side airbag problem, the automaker said.
"The vehicles feature seating that is modified by an upfitter," said Chrysler in a statement. "Subsequent inspections revealed a restraint-system installation procedure had not been consistently followed, leaving some seat-mounted side airbags subject to reduced function."
The company noted that installation procedures have since been updated.
Chrysler said it is not aware of any injuries, accidents or complaints linked to the recall.
Only 2013-model Darts with the Mopar 13 option package are affected. Nearly half are in dealer hands, Chrysler said.
Dealers will inspect the cars. If an assembly error is discovered, the airbag will be correctly installed. The recall is expected to begin in December. Owners can contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
As of early Tuesday morning, no information about the recall had been posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Edmunds says: If you own this special-edition Dodge Dart, you'll want to have it checked out by your dealer when you receive your recall notice.
