WASHINGTON — Hyundai Motor America is recalling 10,800 2013-'15 Hyundai Genesis Coupe vehicles because the rear suspension bolts may be loose, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
"If the differential and the suspension rear cross-member were not properly aligned during vehicle assembly, the bolts that secure the differential may loosen," said NHTSA in its recall summary. "If the rear differential loosens from its mounting position, the driveshaft may disconnect from the differential, results in a loss of propulsion and an increased risk of a crash."
The affected Genesis Coupes were built from December 28, 2011 to April 6, 2015.
A Hyundai spokesman did not respond immediately to a query from Edmunds asking if there are any injuries, accidents or fatalities linked to the recall.
Edmunds says: Owners should wait for their official recall notice and then schedule a service appointment. But if you have an immediate concern, it's best to contact your dealer now.
