"The affected vehicles have a transmission fluid cooler hose that may have been improperly manufactured, resulting in a transmission fluid leak," said NHTSA in its recall summary. "If enough transmission fluid leaks out, the transmission may not function properly and the vehicle may stop moving, increasing the risk of a crash."
There are 107 warranty claims related to the recall, but no accidents or injuries, Kia Motors America told federal safety regulators.
The affected Fortes were built from August 27, 2010 to November 11, 2010.
Edmunds says: Kia dealers are waiting for parts. If you own one of these Fortes, make a service appointment once you receive your official recall notice.
