SANTA MONICA, California — Eleven used cars and SUVs, including the 2010-'15 Hyundai Tucson and 2012-'15 Subaru Impreza, are the best vehicles for college students, according to a new list by Edmunds.com.
Absent from the list are "sensible" used-car choices, such as the Honda Civic, Toyota RAV4 and Ford Fusion.
"While these are all great options, they are generic enough to appeal to anyone, and we wanted to craft a list specifically based on what matters most to today's students," said James Riswick, Edmunds.com Used Car Editor.
The list was compiled with a number of priorities in mind, including affordability, style and high-tech features.
The 2004-'08 TSX is a top pick because it provides students with luxury features, including heated leather seats, navigation and touchscreen control "without breaking the bank."
The 2010-'13 Soul bundles high-tech features such as satellite radio and smartphone connectivity, even in the base model.
The 2002-'06 CR-V is ideal for game-day tailgates with a built-in pop-out picnic table and watertight storage area.
Edmunds says: Edmunds does all the homework so college students can make the best used-car choices.
