2009-'16 Dodge Journey Recalled for Possible Power-Steering Fluid Leak

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — Fiat-Chrysler is recalling approximately 10,944 2009-'16 Dodge Journey SUVs equipped with optional block heaters in the U.S. because of a possible power-steering fluid leak in extreme cold, the automaker said.

"Steering is not lost in such circumstances," Fiat-Chrysler said in a statement. "However, if a vehicle is so affected, the amount of physical effort required to steer may increase."

There are no injuries or accidents linked to the recall.

Another 187,436 vehicles in Canada are subject to the recall.

Dodge dealers are expected to receive replacement parts soon, Fiat-Chrysler said. A date has not been specified for the recall. Owners can contact Fiat-Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403.

No information about the recall has been posted on the website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle safety in the U.S.

Edmunds says: Owners of these vehicles should stay in touch with their Dodge dealer regarding parts availability or wait for an official recall notice before scheduling a service appointment.
