Welding Defects and expansion issues
I purchased a new 2024 Encore GX Preferred in April 2024. After leaving the dealer, it had to be returned for tire issues. three defective, two replaced and all well over maximum pressure. On return of the car two days later, there was an ongoing snapping sound from the B pillar where it meets the ceiling crossover. GM the dealer assumed that this was the plastics and looked it over. With no change, I spoke with a retired GM employee who passed this to the regional quality office. The dealer recalled the car for 5 weeks, leaving me without a vehicle. They sent an engineer who then consulted with two others. I provided video recordings and a log indicating temperature, test location subjective road conditions, speed and other characteristics of the samples. Well, they ended up fixing the unibody structure in areas I didn't know I had an issue. They completely missed the actual complaint and after 5 weeks, it was the same. Tracking shows that they didn't read the complaint as they were testing on bumpy roads and highway speeds, places where the problem didn't exist. This is a smooth road, hot, summer condition problem. I'm frustrated that I have a defective car. Insult to injury, they never fixed the wheel balance issue from day 1.. Now, they want about 25,000 (Canadian) to put me in another car and expect me to eat the depreciation which is about 35% of the vehicle price... this car is 6 months old with unusually low mileage. The quality office has goine silent and the dealer has gone silent. Nobody is going to fix my brand new car and now I'm stuck knowing that I was ripped off. I wouldn't even believe this if I wasn't experiencing it! I've actually turned around and gone home in the middle of trips out of frustration. What an absolutely awful new car buying experience.

Great car at a fair price.
I have had my new car for seven months. And I love it. The CVT transmission shifts smooth and quietly. The turbo 1.2 turbo engine has plenty of power. The interior is very upgraded. The dash displays are easy to use. The heated steering wheel and seats are a nice feature. The extra sound insulation used in the body and glass keeps road noise to a minimum. Fuel mileage runs around 33 to 36 mph. I would buy it again. No problems. The start/stop lockout is nice but the few times I forgot to use it you don't feel it start. Also the standard safety features are nice. Extra warning cameras work great. The front wheel drive handles great in the snow.

Great Little SUV
This is an aggressive but very attractive looking little SUV. Handles quite well but, to me, it has a rather stiff ride (read bumpy). This normally wouldn't bother me but for some reason, seemed a little more than I am used to--could be because I'm coming from a slightly larger wheelbase? That being said, front seats are super comfortable. Has quite a bit of pep w/the 1.3 turbo--kind of fun car to drive. Decent leg room front & back. It has a little more room in hatchback area than I expected & back seats fold down for more room. This SUV has all the gewgaws + some I wasn't expecting--they thought of practically everything. It has a decent size info screen. Attractive two tone interior. Price is a little above comparable vehicle but, to me, I think it was worth the extra as I plan on keeping this vehicle a while.
Still very happy with our 2024 Encore GX Cute Ute!
UPDATE: My wife and I are (still) very pleased with our 2024 Encore GX Preferred, purchased used w/ only 2500 mi on the clock in March 2025. Our 'Metallic Grey Ghost' now has about 8000 miles with ZERO major issues. The only real complaint: I'm 6'-1" and the Encore is small for me. But, I knew what I was getting into (pun intended). Summary : A small, stylish, efficient (30 mpg) and easy to maneuver SUV that is perfect for city driving with good braking, tight steering and plenty of pep. The Encore GX is pleasant to drive; only real gripe is that the seats are narrow, hard and uncomfortable on long drives. Mileage: EPA 28/32/30 combined; we are averaging 30 mpg. Exterior : Finish is excellent, fit less than great. Note that the design is based on the Buick wildcat concept Interior : Seats are treated cloth and leatherette; mostly soft touch materials; combination gauge cluster and Infotainment 30" under one piece of glass; has a real shifter not a dial; negatives are no phone charger; no rear A/C vents. Optional equipment : Heated seats, steering wheel, outside mirrors; 8-way power-adjustable Drivers seat w/ Lumbar; Power liftgate; Blind spot monitoring; Adaptive Cruise Control Tech : has all the latest tech including WIRELESS Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety and Reliability are two of the most important things to us : the NHTSA has given the 2024 GX a 5/5 Overall Safety Rating; IIHS gives the the vehicle an Overall "Good" rating with a Superior Crash Avoidance score. As to reliability : The 2025 (26?) JD Power VDS lists Buick as No 2 in reliability with Lexus at #1. We have had only one problem in 1-1/2 years -- OTA updates would not install; fixed under warranty. Value : We don't see how anyone could say anything other than the GX is a great value for, at the time, a MSRP of less than $25000.
Great vehicle with a lot to offer
