Test Driver Ratings & Comments

Acceleration commentsThere are huge gains to be had with the stability control system off and brake torquing up to 2,000 rpm. Power begins to wane in the upper rpm range; shifts are quick but smooth, even in Sport mode.
Braking ratingExcellent
Braking commentsThe X6 forgot it weighs 5,000 pounds. Brakes are amazingly powerful and fade-free. Pedal is rock hard, however. Also, in normal driving they bite abruptly.
Handling ratingExcellent
Handling commentsThere's obviously something new here at work, as I could lock the steering wheel in place and drive it around the skid pad with my right foot -- even got some oversteer. Steering gets light as the front tires lose grip. Flat and easily controlled through the slalom transitions. Quick, intuitive steering, but sometimes difficult to locate the corners of the car. Stability control isn't completely off, but only intrudes when all is lost.
