Beautiful Blend of Luxury and Performance
Bought a 2024 BMW X5 m40i about a month ago. Totally impressed! Exterior styling changes further enhance the beauty of the car. Interior is clean, simple, and elegant. Engine and transmission powerful and smooth. Very quiet ride! I carefully compared to Mercedes GLE 450 before purchase. GLE body style looked a bit dated and stodgy to me. Reviews of GLE touted interior luxury, but to me, the BMW is hands down more luxurious and up to date looking. During driving test, the GLE was not as tight and nimble, and I felt some roll in curves. BMW driving performance was superb and superior. For me, the choice was easy. BMW X5 delivers an excellent blend of luxury and performance that is best in class.

An Impressive vehicle
I have owned the X5 for four months now, and I am extremely pleased with it. The base engine is powerful and smooth, and I’m glad I didn’t get the 50i. The interior is beautiful and very comfortable. The technology package is also well worth it, for the self-driving feature. Multiple times now, I’ve been able to engage it on a highway, let it drive for 30 miles or more at a time. It does an nice job. My only complaint is about the lags and glitches with iDrive 8. But I just bypass it and use CarPlay.

3d X5 and THE Best
Owned since mid May and now with 6K miles. Traded in 2019 model which was the second X5 we owned. The previous one was great but this is now even better. Fantastic speed 0-60 and it is like a rocket when passing using the Sport mode. The outside is cleaner and sportier (happy they kept the traditional kidney grill) and interior has a true luxury feel. New technology (curved info screen has perfect visibility for driver and front passenger, apps setup and appearances on screen is like an iPhone, easy to see and track mpg performance for each trip and overall (I’m achieving about 1.5 mpg above rating), ability to customize instrumentation gives driver comfort to follow map and road directions and heads-up display map/direction easy to read and follow), ride is very smooth although I would have preferred regular tires over flat resistant ones since the latter is a little stiffer. Elimination of stick type shifter for a short and small shifter eliminates obstacle for reaching other controls on the middle panel. Reduction of air vents’ size reduces clutter while air stream is not reduced. Finally, you can tell right away that you are in a BMW because everything like doors, windows, body, etc. fit tight and reduce road noise to the max. Well done BMW engineers as usual!

Great vehicle~until you have a issue @ 1k miles
The 2024 BMW X5 xDrive40i is a fun, fast, and a fuel sipper (28 mpg while cruising at 81 mph) . Until, you have smoke pouring out of the hood and fenders at 1,000 miles and four months, since the BMW rolled off the factory floor. This was my second attempt, to own a BMW in the hopes that the reliability has improved over the years. Unfortunately, history repeats itself, even worse this time! 800 miles and a valve cover gasket leak due to a “cut from factory”. I do not know what happened to quality control but apparently that has gone out the window post COVID. However, what has made things worse, not only did this occur while attempting to visit family 600 miles away but BMW road side assistance/Customer Care is TERRIBLE! To be honest, it makes me sick to think one spends so much on a “performance luxury brand” and was treated better by General Motors (GM) when a major issue occurred with a GM vehicle. I have lost time (in my opinion is more valuable then money itself) visiting my family, stress for being broken down on the side of the road with a four month old. Then to add injury to the situation, no rental car available and BMW couldn’t not locate the vehicle via BMW’s own GPS emergency services. BMW customer care’s reply to this disaster was, “So sorry this happen. Well glads its fix and next time it breaks down call us back to figure something out.” This is awful and just goes to show how dismal this corporation regards its customers. So buyers be prepared to have better customer care and assistance by GM than BMWs performance luxury brand when something does go wrong.

Worst SUV in the market
The vehicle has a recall which causes catastrophic engine failure which BMW is failing to notify consumers about. Unfortunately my vehicle’s engine failure occurred prior to the repair for the recall. They replaced the full engine body and turbo, released the vehicle to me and of course there were still engine problems causing a lot of smoke and engine to overheat. They refuse to replace the vehicle.
