2004 BMW X5 SUV 4.4i AWD 4dr SUV (4.4L 8cyl 6A)

Review

We have now put allmost 15k on this
car since new. We ordered the car with
every option avail.
Love the performance, but have been to
the dealer 4 times!!! for the same
problem in the last 4mo. Check engine
light keeps coming on, very annoying.
Would look to buy something different
next time. And this is our 4th BMW.
Nav system is antique and does not
offer in dash cd... There should be
away to interface ipod or mp3 format.

Best Features

Performance, handling

Worst Features

Uppdate the nav/phone/stereo system. Reliability is very poor.

2004 BMW X5 SUV 4.8is AWD 4dr SUV (4.8L 8cyl 6A)

Review

I was more excited to receive this vehicle than any
other. Now it is here I have very mixed feelings.
First off: Imola Red/Nav/Floor/Sirius/comfort
seats/Metal running +pedals/set of snow
tires (minnesota). Comfort seats are really great,
engine noise great, acceleration great. Navigation
hopeless; most user unfriendly system in existence.
You can NOT I-pod or bluetooth phone the 4.8is.
This 'truck' is great if you do not have a family or a
dog (but I do), two front passengers will be very
happy. Soon as you try to load anything of
substance you start to wonder why you spend 85K
(taxes inclded) on it. It is a completely impractical
SUV; REALLY think why you want this X5.

Best Features

comfort seats, acceleration really fun, stability and lack of body roll, auto dimming mirrors, exterior appearance, panorama roof. You will find yourself at 90 mph easily and often. Thats without the performance tires on yet (I started with Snow) Do not try snow in performance tires. Seat heat

Worst Features

cup holders designed by complete moron, unacceptable for 85K vehicle sold in America, we love 20oz coffee not two small bottled waters. No notification if door is open while driving (really!), very little leg room in back seat, too high for Dog even with ramp; Can not I-Pod the 4.8is. NAV sucks

2004 BMW X5 SUV 4.4i AWD 4dr SUV (4.4L 8cyl 6A)

Review

we were looking for an SUV and this was
really the only option with this much
to offer...all the american models were
out...poor quality and the others
available just did not cut it....lexus,
porsche and Land Rover...excellent car
for the money..too bad they sell them
all and there is little room to
negotiate the price down..but anyway
well worth the cost...

Best Features

drive...excellent drive like a sports car, tight feel and sturdy controls

Worst Features

The park distance control needs to be available on every unit..not an option.....either that or provide a camera type view such as the japanese cars do...

Review

Smooth ride and excellent brakes. It
is a solidly built automobile and
finishing is excellent.

Best Features

Smooth transmission and engine performance.

Worst Features

Needs a better stereo sound system and ammenities such as a compass would be wonderful.

2004 BMW X5 SUV 4.4i AWD 4dr SUV (4.4L 8cyl 6A)

Review

Excellent power and handling. It is
far smoother than a Mercedes 430 I last
owned. The navigation system is not
easy to use. It is difficult to
program in destinations. It will also
not accept addresses at times and wants
intersections. The new sunroof is
amazing large. Dual climate controls
up front and a separate one for the
back. The ski bag is great for skiers.
It allows the up to 2 skis to slide
through the center of the back seat but
remains covered. The trunk space is
small - this was the reason I
originally bought the Mercedes 4 years
ago. There is obviously no 3rd row
seat option. It is still a fairly
small SUV and easy to park in tight
spaces.

Best Features

The 4.4 liter engine

Worst Features

More trunk space
