Vehicle

2004 BMW X5 4.4i AWD 4dr SUV (4.4L 8cyl 6A)

Review

I went to the BMW Center at Spartanburg
to pick up the vehicle. It is a great
experience and I had the opportunity to
drive an identical vehicle on both the
road track and off-road track at
whatever extremes I had the nerve and
capability to handle, so I can
guarantee it is stable and will peform
as I have come to expect from a BMW. It
is exceptionally smooth for an SUV.

Best Features

The engine, drive train and AWD combination are perfectly integrated. The split rear hatch, the perimeter sensors, the quality of the interior appointments and the exterior design are exceptional.

Worst Features

The cup holders are bad. They will not hold two cups of any shape at the same time. The audio system should offer a cassette/CD combination. The front passenger seat should fold foward for loading long objects.

2004 BMW X5 3.0i AWD 4dr SUV (3.0L 6cyl 6M)

Review

Great handling and great looking
vehicle, the ride is a little harsh
with the sports package. The only
other thing I note is that the paint
job is not the quality of the bmw's
built off shore.

Best Features

Looks great and handles like a BMW. It is very comfortable on long freeway trips.

Worst Features

Better quality paint job.

Vehicle

2004 BMW X5 3.0i AWD 4dr SUV (3.0L 6cyl 6M)

Review

The BMW x5 is perhaps the most
elegantly designed, sport SUV
available. The vehicle rides and
handles like a dream. It is
essentially a 5 series that is
disguised as an SUV. The 3.0 is
perfectly adequate for the average
consumer looking for a reasonably
priced sport SUV. The 4.4 is for the
true enthusiast who desires the added
performance of the larger engine. We
won't even discuss the dream of the
new 4.8.

Best Features

The sport package is essential, and improves the vehicles image immensely. The X5 is clearly the most attractive SUV on the market; leaving others such as the Porsche in the dust.

Review

A very nice SUV.....and a BIG nice at
that. Handling excellent. Performance
excellent....Quiet elegance inside even
at 80 miles per hour.

Best Features

Power even with the six. Handling. Interior comfort. Style...a real head turner. All wheel drive nice...even in the mild California weather.

Worst Features

Cup Holders to small and to close together. Would be nice for the Radio to stay on when you turn off the car as in higher end Ford products.

Review

Vehicle is fun to zip around in. The
ride is stiff/sporty compared to other
Luxury SUVs. The biggest problem I had
with the vehicle was that its AC broke
down 3 times during the 1st year. Only
thing hotter than the Texas temperature
was my temper during this period. To
have plunked over $50K for a vehicle
with an unreliable AC is unthinkable.
Once this problem was resolved, I have
had a very nice experience overall with
the vehicle.
The standard Audio system for this
vehicle is a joke. Its the worst in
this category of vehicles.

Best Features

Tiptoronic Transmission, External styling, Power, Handling

Worst Features

Audio system, Airconditioning,
