2004 BMW 5 Series Sedan 545i 4dr Sedan (4.4L 8cyl 6M)
Have had 545 SMG for one month and one
day as a replacement for 540-6spd. Car
was delivered in pristine condition.
Absolutely no defects have surfaced in
the first month. Car is quieter,
smoother, more stylish, more technically
advanced, and more satisfying to own
than my previous wheels.
Active steering has been the best
surprise. Maneuvering at low speeds is
an absolute pleasure. Ninety degree
turns are amazing. Cruise control (not
active) has been improved and much
easier to change cruise speed. Also
would not want to be without HUD ever again.
Make HUD more programmable. Give more
options for four or five features in the
HUD screen, especially the tach. Add
AM/FM button to radio controls outside
of iDrive. Improve SMG so actual
performs as smoothly as brochures claim.
2004 BMW 5 Series Sedan 545i 4dr Sedan (4.4L 8cyl 6A)
This is the most fun car I have ever
driven. I love the way exterior looks.
It is definately in the top 5 best
looking cars on the road, definately
the car with a serious "PRESENCE"! I-
Drive is very easy and can be learned
in a very short time. The comfort seats
are awesome. Premium sound is awesome.
I test drove MB E500 and it is a very
nice car as well but this new 5 series
is definately more fun to drive,
handles better and to me, it looks way
V8, Comfort Seats, Premium Sound,
Active Steering, Adaptive Headlights,
Active Roll Suspension
More options in the I-Drive. There
aren't that many options there. You
can't blame BMW for that though. There
are still some who are arguing that I-
Drive is hard as it is. Geeeeez
2004 BMW 5 Series Sedan 530i 4dr Sedan (3.0L 6cyl 6M)
This is a great car for those who love
to drive. The handling is the best
I've ever driven (better than the
previous model 530), and the car sticks
to the road even in the fastest and
sharpest turns. The interior layout is
a big improvement over the previous
model because of higher quality
materials, more luxurious layout, and
fewer buttons crowding the dash.
IDrive is great once you get used to
it. It's challenging at first, but
very useful (and fun) after a day or
two. The steptronic transmission is
sharp and responsive. The car is full
of creature comforts.
Currently Navigation and Satellite
radio do not work together, hopefully
this will be fixed soon.
