ZURICH, Switzerland — General Motors Europe will unveil the new Chevrolet Trax mini-crossover in September at the 2012 Paris Auto Show. The five-passenger Trax will go on sale in Europe next spring, following the launch of the new Cruze wagon.
GM first used the Trax name on a mini-crossover concept at the 2007 New York Auto Show. That vehicle never made it into production, but likely inspired the latest production model to wear that name. The original 2007 Trax was an all-wheel-drive "urban crossover concept" powered by a 1.0-liter gas engine.
In a brief statement released Monday, along with a single rendering of the new Trax, GM simply describes the car as a small SUV for "urban explorers." It said the Trax displays a "muscular exterior design and wide athletic stance," but did not provide details on features, specifications, powertrains or pricing.
GM said the Trax eventually will be sold in 140 markets, but did not say if the U.S. is one of them.
