2025 Audi SQ6 Sportback e-tron

The 2025 Audi SQ6 Sportback E-tron is an all-new electric SUV, with driving range as long as its name. Decoding the moniker isn't so hard if you're versed in Audi-speak; the S in SQ6 denotes it's the sportier version of the Q6, the Sportback means it has a tapering rear roofline, and E-tron is the name for all of Audi's EVs. From behind the wheel, the differences from the standard Q6 E-tron are noticeable and make it much more desirable, whether you prioritize performance or not. Even though it comes with a minor drop in driving range, we think enthusiasts will upgrade to the SQ6.

The closest rival to the SQ6 Sportback E-tron is produced by Audi's corporate cousin, Porsche. The Macan 4S Electric has the same maximum output and is the same size, but it has a quicker 0-60 mph time and travels marginally farther on a full charge. In true Porsche fashion, however, it has fewer standard features and costs more than the Audi. And while the Genesis GV70 doesn't have the same performance-minded ethos, in Edmunds' testing, it achieved the same 0-60 mph time that Audi cites for the SQ6. If you're seeking even more thrills, Audi has teased an RS Q6 E-tron — possibly with a similar output to the Macan Turbo Electric's 630-hp max — though it hasn't been revealed yet.

The SQ6 holds a 53-horsepower advantage over the Q6 in each car's respective launch control mode, and that power increase noticeably improves acceleration. According to Audi, the SQ6's 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds is nearly a second quicker than the Q6's. In return, you'll have to sacrifice 36 miles of estimated range, but for most drivers, this shouldn't be a deal-breaker.
