My First Audi
I was actually looking for a sporty AWD wagon when I decided to test drive a Q5. I loved the way it drove and the technology package included with the trim level. It is a smooth drive with precise driving (for an SUV) and felt powerful when I wanted/needed it. I test drove a Volvo XC60, a Mercedes GLC and a BMW X3 and preferred the drive and cabin on the Audi much more than the others. After 2000 miles, all is well and it is easily returning 30-31 mpg on the highway trips I have taken. The lane holding and adaptive cruise control is new to me but definitely a ‘must-have’ feature from now on. Gripes? The fact that there is no oil dipstick freaks me out a bit (too old-school I guess). I think more interior storage would be nice. Everything is a little too small or in an awkward spot. I will update when I get more mileage.

Second Audi, even better than the first.
I have driven a new 2017 A4 with the new 2 liter engine and had a lot of satisfying experiences since that purchase. The new 2021 Q5 is simply a more refined and even better equipped SUV version of my old car. While not quite as quick, the engine pulls willingly and smoothly for me. It makes me feel very confident merging into traffic. I have come to truly appreciate the Quattro as more sure footed than 2WD and no wheel spin. The outside of my Audi is gorgeous Navarra Blue with black leather interior. The styling looks more refined now and good from every angle to me. The size feels just right. I don't need a lot of space and don't want the extra size of a larger SUV. The usual Audi interior styling is perfect for me, but I love the new larger touch screen, still getting used to that feature. For navigation along with the virtual cockpit it is the best. Controls are placed where I would expect to find them. I am getting to quickly appreciate the 360 degree view for parking and tight spaces. In a short period of time I have yet to use adaptive cruise control or lane keeping. First impressions of this SUV are all good for me and I am very glad of my purchase. Based on list price and features included it feels significantly better value than BMW X3 or Mercedes GLC. I was able to get a price that made me feel like I wasn't going to get better value for my auto shopping dollar. So I would definitely recommend giving the new Q5 a test drive.

Hoping for a software upgrade for the MMI
This car does not have a spare tire! I traded in my 2014 Audi Q5 (which I loved) for a 2021 Q5. The 2021 drives as well as the 2014, is as roomy (I am 6'6"), and gets better gas mileage. I like the Adaptive Cruise Controls and the better cameras. However, the new MMI leaves a lot to be desired. They will need to release a software upgrade to address the numerous issue, before I can recommend this car (to anyone who cares about the MMI). To mention a few of the worst problems: Neither Android or Apple phones (XR, or 12 Pro) will remain connected to the MMI. After they disconnect, they sometimes reconnect on their own, sometimes I can fiddle with the setting to get them to reconnect, sometimes I can unplug and replug the phone (put the Apple's in airplane mode), and sometimes all I can do is stop and restart the car. They have moved the Homelink controls into the touchscreen MMI (which is distracting when I am trying to turn into my driveway... I ended up having to put a garage door opener on the visor). Due to a flaw in their programming, the user profiles ALWAYS move the seat to the wrong position (so we quit using separate profiles). And once, the seats started moving on their own while I was driving down the road (and then a few minutes later, they moved back). There are a lot of other quirky things that I can't get into here, but as I said, I sure hope that they release a software upgrade or this may be my (fourth and) last Audi. In the MMI: A black screen means disconnect and reconnect your phone. A white screen means that the cameras aren't working, so you must turn off the car and restart it to fix it. A blue screen means that the MMI has crashed; it will not fix itself (even if you turn off the car), you must hold down the thumb wheel for ~20 seconds to reboot the MMI. The blue screen has only happened to me once, the others are common.

Love my 2021 Q5!
This car is my 8th Audi and my 4th Audi Q5. This time I upgraded to the Prestige trim. It has everything that I need/want in an SUV. Both the exterior and interior are beautiful. This car is quick, the tech is stellar and it glades over the road.

Gateway module issue
Our new Q5 had the issue that others are citing - the car totally shut down while driving, turned off. After not turning back on for about 45 minutes, the car started again and ran normal - but extremely dangerous. After over 10 days at the Audi dealer - they are replacing the gateway module. this should be a recall issue -but they probably aren’t because of fear of the lack of the part.

Audi Time
Bought our 2022 Audi Q5 S line 45 TFSI quattro in May of 22. Nice vehicle with a great ride. So much technology that it gets confusing if you are not a young techie. The problem we have is with the series of black buttons below the silver buttons for the AC control screen. The buttons are black with white labeling. Being that the buttons are under the silver buttons, the are not legible during the day in the bright daylight. Buttons should have been a different color. The buttons are for parking aid, ESC, start/stop function, plus others. Poor design by Audi. Also found that the tool kit was missing the tweezers tool to get the covers off the lug bolts and the wheel locks were not included. Small things but someone did not check if these things supplied before the car went out to the customer,
5,000 Miles and need a new Engine
I was ecstatic when I got my new 2022 Audi Q5 last fall. All in all (extended warranty, etc), I paid $60,000 for this car. There were a few little quirks initially, but nothing that I couldn't handle or work through as a new owner. April 13, 2022 and a tick, tick, tick and then the engine light appeared. I took the car to the Minneapolis Audi dealership and they told me the car needed a new engine. Today, June 10th I got a call from Chrissy who told me the engine was in and it looks like I'll get the car back next week. Sadly, the dealership has treated me like every other customer who comes in for an oil change. No updates unless I call them, no relaxing of the loaner rules and bad luck with the loaners themselves. I really don't want the car back and can't believe I paid $60k for something I have no doubt will continue to give me issues and a dealership I will have to go to for service that will only be looking out for their bottom line.
Love my '21 Q5 PHEV
So far, there's nothing not to like. Came from a 2013 Q5 Premium to a 2021 Q5 PPlus + Nav, Warm Weather Package, and B&O Sound system which gets it about half way to a Prestige trim. Loved the 2013 for its looks which were ahead of it's time and copied by the GLC to some extent- in that sense, the 2021 looks are not that cutting edge and only evolutionary. Getting exactly the 20 mile EPA rated EV range which is great for my 12 mile round trip commute. I think it makes sense to get the PHEV if you can do the weekday commute in EV only mode, charge free at home with Solar/Powerwall, and use gas only for weekend drives. Range is 350 miles in mixed driving. Driver assistance tech is spot on- unlike other car makers- is neither overly aggressive nor alarmingly permissive. Adaptive cruise being the best example. As expected, driving in EV mode is completely silent and with a decent road and no potholes there is minimal road noise too.
CRITICAL INTERNAL FAILURE IN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS
Purchased the vehicle brand new in 12/2020, and the car died completely in less than 2 months due to internal failure. The car completely died mid driving and I couldn't even put the gear to neutral for good Samaritans to push the car out of the traffic to safety. Before the car stalled, all four windows started to go up and down like they were possessed. Then the dashboard started to go crazy displaying all the components and functions that were going critically wrong and shutting down. I had to get my car towed to back to the dealership in Honolulu, HI, and they kept the vehicle over 25 days without no update from them. I had to reach out every time to get updates which they didn't have much. Last month, I was driving the same vehicle and experienced Audi pre-sense malfunction. I was making a left turn in an 4 lane intersection and I was the first car making the left term. My path was clear, there was no oncoming vehicles, motorcycles, pedestrian in the crosswalk, nothing. When I pushed gas, the car suddenly braked, hard, and the cars behind me had to slam their brakes to not rear end me. This happened so abruptly when not expected at all, and I initially didn't know what happened. I thought I hit someone or I was hit. I realized I was sitting duck in the middle of the intersection, I tried to push gas again to complete my turn. The car would not move becuase the gear was at Park. I changed the gear and pushed the gas and was able to clear the intersection. The experience was so scary, I feel traumatized. And yes, like some other reviewers said, Apple CarPlay disconnects often and sometimes I cannot get them to connect at all and it is very frustrating. I saw someone's review said this was a known issue per Audi, but my dealership sure didn't admit to that and made me feel I was the one who didn't know what I was doing. Finally, I also do remember hearing a loud pop when I was driving one day which almost felt like it came from under my driver's seat. It felt like I didn't have the seat adjusted properly and when in motion the seat moved and it latched (thus the loud noise) but I remembered this car adjusted seats electrically (not like my other car, Subaru Crosstrek). Love the way this car rides and drives, but I am way too scared to keep driving this car for my safety.
Great car, just a bit cramped inside
Have had the car for a couple of days. The engine and transmission are perfect. I would put it in dynamic mode for better throttle response. MMI interface is crisp and easy to use. I liked the interior design better than the BMW X3 and Volvo XC60. Also, compared to XC60, I like that it has actual switches and knobs. My only complaint is the lack of enough legroom in the second row. I feel X3 was roomier (but the seats had lower quality). Overall, it is a gorgeous package. I strongly suggest Premium Plus with Warm weather package or Prestige.

This car has been a NIGHTMARE!
We’ve had this car for almost a year and in November of last year we had the dreaded gateway control unit failure that has since been recalled. I would’ve really appreciated if they could’ve told us about it before our car was sitting basically brain dead on the side of the road on a cold, snowy Minnesota night. That terrifying experience aside, the car has been an unreliable piece of junk. Multiple trips to the dealership to reset the cpu because the screen crashes, the SiriusXM membership “updates” several times during the morning commute for some unknown reason, last week the steering wheel needed to be replaced because the sensors were malfunctioning(who knew that was a thing?), and this afternoon we got a warning sensor that the left tail light was malfunctioning when it clearly wasn’t. Seriously, the dumbest smart car I could ever imagine. Will never buy an Audi again.

Problem after problem
First and last Audi we will own. Has had an infotainment issue since purchase. There is clearly a problem with one of the modules (there apparently are 8 modules) and Audi can't figure out which one is the issue. We have asked that they replace all 8 and they have declined. Have replaced the high pressure fuel pump and repaired 2 oil leaks. As soon as the 3 year warranty expires this car is g-o-n-e!
Danger! Danger! A wet gateway could kill you...
OMG! On Wednesday, August 4, 2021, while driving, my 2021 Audi q5 with 1400 miles, it went into complete malfunction mode; every light and warning began flashing on the dashboard. I am thankful I was able to steer the q5 off the road. I was going about 30-40 mph. 2. Fast forward, next day, I had the q5 towed to Audi. I was told I will be called with an update. I didn’t receive a call from Audi, so I called. 3. On this call, I was told that the gateway got wet and the cost for the part is $1200. It will take 2 weeks to get the part in. The dealership has no openings until October. Huh? 4. They told me that the water drains are working and that they found a water bottle cap in the backSeat of the car; therefore, the gateway will not be covered under warranty. Huh? 5. I am unsure why the warranty will not cover any issues on a 4 month old car. 6. The dealership is assuming there was a water spill, because there was a water bottle cap in the car. 7. What are you talking about, Audi? Why are you assuming things? What is the real cause of this traumatic experience? Secondly, no one told me not to have a water bottle cap in the q5 backseat area. 8. Overall, I loved my q5, however, why is Audi not acting in good faith, why are there assumptions made? I recommend Audi recall these cars and announce a public safety warning of the fatal danger that is lurking in the back seat called a gateway. 9. Audi needs to clearly state “Danger! Danger! No water bottle caps allowed in backseat”. 10. Also, not to mention, there were no Audi loaner cars available; this gives off the appearance that Audi is making a lot of repairs and they are aware of this $1200 water bottle cap problem called a gateway. 11. I will Prob trade in the q5 once repaired. 12. I am aware my experience is possibly rare, due to the many q5s on the road. However, this was a true experience I had & I don’t ever want this to happen again to me or no one!! 13. Audi these q5s are dangerous; please recall the q5 and place the gateway in a more safe space where water bottle caps cannot reach it. 14. Thanks for reading, sorry for extra long post.

Great SUV
I am in love with my new Q5, purchased from Audi Owings Mills, MD. I looked at several other similar SUVs (different brands), and a fully-loaded 'other brand' vehicle did not even come close to my Q5 - which is only a Premium (base) model. The ride is smooth, quiet, and it handles the road so well. It is a luxurious car. I cannot say enough about my new Q5. I highly recommend it!
Safety Issues, No Solution, Terrible Customer Serv
2021 Audi Q5 has a MAJOR design flaw and a SIGNFICANT SAFETY ISSUE that Audi is fully aware of, doesn’t have a fix yet, so haven’t issued a recall or informed exiting owners. What’s worse is that they are still selling the car without disclosing the problem to prospective owners. If you or your loved ones are considering buying 2021 Audi Q5 – PLEASE STOP & read this. If you already own an 2021 Audi Q5 – PLEASE STOP DRIVING IT IMMEDIATELY AND CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER AND YOUR DEALER IMMEDIATELY. Read my post below for further details. 2021 Audi Q5 has gateway module (part # J533) under the middle row seat, right below the cup holder. Gateway module is like the brain of the car and when it stops working, the car shuts off immediately. It is exactly like a brain dead person, everything stops working, the car remote keys won’t work, engine won’t start and so on. If water gets in the gateway module it stops working immediately and yes, right then and there – you can be on a highway at 70 MPH speed, making a left turn at the red light when there is car approaching you in distance … etc., it just stops. I was driving the car after heavy rains and that’s exactly what happened to me – the car totally shut off in the middle of the road, thankfully we are all safe and unhurt. My car was towed to the service center and since they don’t have a permanent fix to the problem, they have wrapped the gateway module in plastic – see pictures. I asked them to confirm in writing that the fix is permanent and it prevents water entering the gateway module and they said that they can’t confirm it in writing. So I asked to take the car back and refund the money in full. It has been 3 weeks and after multiple reminders I have received a generic email asking for a list of irrelevant documents or documents they already have access to. Email says that they will take 2 or more weeks to review and get back to me with a resolution. Well, it’s a safety issue and anything can happen if I drive the car, so I didn’t pick up the car, paying the EMI, have no loaner and Audi is just not taking the issue seriously. They are still selling the defective car without informing the buyers. @skeogh @audi @danielweissland #audi #quatro #audiq5 #audiusa #audiwestmont www.audiusa.com www.audiwestmont.com .– take the defective car back and refund my money. This is no rocket science, you are fully aware of the problem. Save lives! Please tag 2021 Audi Q5 Owners, please tag your friends who are in the market to buy a new SUV and considering Audi Q5. Audi argued with me that it is not a safety issue but had to recall many models since 2018 as NHTSA directed them to issue the recall. I will never ever trust Audi, Volkswagen and will never buy another car from them.

fun but unreliable
THis is a fast fun car that can be economical or fun to drive but in the 15 months I have owned it, it has been in the shop for five weeks and counting. Waiting of for a part now --a sensor needs to be replace, no A/C. Last winter spent three weeks in service partly to fix something in the dash and partly due to poor acceleration in the winter while in electric mode. The audi app doesnt work either. When everything works its a wonderful car. Also, there was another visit for a check engine light and a recall.

AC isn't working on my new 2021 Q5 plug in...
I bought my 2021 Audi Q5 plug in hybrid in January 2021. In early September 2021 the AC suddenly stopped working. Even when I click up or down on the AC nob, it just remains off. So I took it in to the Audi dealer where I bought my car and I was told that an AC component had to be repaired but the parts were not in stock. What's worse is that the Audi dealer told me that they don't know when they will receive the shipment of the parts. It's been about 20 days now since I brought my car in and my Q5 still hasn't been fixed. They returned my car to me saying that its not a safety issue so I can still drive it... Having a car with no AC in the summer is extremely unpleasant. I'm still waiting for the dealer to notify me on when the parts will be available. Having no AC in a luxury car that's less than a year old with no end in sight of when it'll be fixed has definitely soured my ownership experience. I honestly can't recommend this car to anyone with this type of reliability.

Stopped running with 5 second warning
My 2021 Audi Q5 with 20,000 miles malfunctioned while driving approx 70 mph. The car dash said “transmission malfunction” pull over immediately. Luckily I was able to get to the shoulder before it completely stopped driving. It took road-side assistance 12 hours to tow my car - I waited the first 3. Had to fight the dealership for a loaner. No idea what’s wrong with the car, but a quick google search shows that transmission problems aren’t uncommon in this model.

Great vehicle but bad transmission
My 2021 Q5 is my second Audi. I had a 2018 Q5 before. My 2018 was very smooth and ran trouble free for 3 year. My 2021 is another story however. From the first day I took delivery it had some transmission issues. At stop signs when the start/stop engine did its thing the transmission disengaged and if I was at uphill l, the car moved backward just like a standard transmission would. I had to break and wait a second till the transmission re-engage itself and I could keep going. My 2018 did not behave like that. The dealer said the dual clutch sometimes behaves like that and it is normal and I should be more patient at stop signs. From that day I always disengage the start/ stop fiction so I don’t experience that issue. 9 months later at 12900 km the transmission failed the code transmission fault should up on my dash. I could not put the car in forward or reverse. After shutting off the engine and trying again a few minutes later I could put the car in D but the transmission was in limp mode. I towed the car to the dealer and they diagnosed it and said some of the internal parts of the transmission failed and they need to order it from Germany. It has been two weeks now and I still don’t have my car back.

for a car of this bulk and size it handles extremely well; terrific ride city or highway; very comfortable with very precise handling. however, the infotainment system is wildly overengineered. Be prepared for a lot of homework as the entire system is controlled through the touchscreen.

So Far, A Great Vehicle
Just got our Audi, so this is a first impressions review that I will update after more experience. We were replacing a 2019 Infiniti QX50 that was totaled. My wife would have been content with getting another Infiniti, but we checked alternatives and found the Audi was far superior on all fronts but one small one (cup holders). It looks nice (although may be time for a refresh), the inside is gorgeous, the drive and handling are excellent, it is quiet, has all the bells and whistles, the displays look great and while not all intuitively obvious, they seem easy enough. There are some compromises: 1) Some of the cars on the lot had features removed (and prices reduced) due to the infamous chip shortage. The features removed from ours were pretty minor so won't be missed. 2) The cup holders seem pretty small, so won't be buying the large-size drinks with our fast food. 3) The garage door button is now a somewhat hard to see icon on the display, rather than a real button on the mirror....but it works. 4) Real buttons are mostly icons on the display, so access is not as direct as I'd like. We'll see how the gas mileage lives up to the EPA estimates. And hopefully reliability is good...we'll see. But so far, first impressions are excellent.

Audi Q5e - AC keep failing
My Hybrid Q5 having trouble to keep AC running. It was running no problem first couple of month, but sometime it went off position by itself, and just warm air comes out. Stop ending and restarting always make AC running again. But I should not have to do that such on long touring on freeway. Dealer attempt fixing 2 times already. All repair seems same method, replace sensor and charge ac system. But eventually same problem happens again. Now its 2nd summer with this car, and symptom got worse, as AC stop almost after few minutes after car started. Dealer is attempting 3rd repair. If this does not resolve, I may have to discuss with Audi of America.

Larry’s Q5
Great suv with many bells and whistles. Smooth ride with adequate pickup. Lots of of technology that for an older person like myself can be difficult. However Audi supples on line many tutorials which are a huge help.
Failure
I bought my 2021 Q5 Tuesday and right after driving off the lot realized there was an issue with Navigation system! The dealer had just closed called next morning they told me to do factory reset on computer !! I did NOTHING happened!! Took it back to dealer now they are saying this is a known issue and they will have to get it fixed but have no idea how long it will take !!! I'm furious ! I bought a brand new car and now I'm without it and they act like it's no big deal! This is my 3rd Audi ( currently have 2 if you count this Q5) and this may be my last this is totally unacceptable!!

Absolute junk
Motor recall don't even have 1500 miles on it battery goes dead all the if it sits for 2weeks even with tender on it would recommend other brand
Major electrical issues
With less than 1000 miles on car, gateway module failed. This caused the car to completely shut down with NO warning while I was driving 45 MPH. The windows rolled down, and the power steering, power brakes, transmission, and airbags warning lights flashed. After having it towed to the Audi dealership and 2.5 weeks later, the gateway module was replaced. The electrical system is still very glitchy though. The front collision warning has activated a few times WITH NOTHING in front of the car. Today the dash went completely black while I was driving, and the turn signals stopped working. I pulled over, restarted the car, and after a few minutes the dash came back up. Back to the shop it goes. At this point I have about 1500 miles on the car. Very disappointed, would not purchase a Q5 again. I have a Premium Plus gas only (it's not a hybrid, but the model selection below is only allowing me to select this as an option).
Disappointing, fragile and a money pit
I was hoping that the plug in hybrid would provide a good balance between an electric car and a mountain car that would allow for longer range trips without worrying about charging. The charge only gets to 33 "miles" in the summer and about 24 in the winter and these "miles" are more like kilometers in terms of the actual range. The car is heavy because it has two engines and this makes it less responsive. The car is expensive to maintain. A simple crack in the tail light is more than $500 to fix and it just gets more expensive from there.

GREAT CAR - IMPOSSIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Purchased a 2021 Q5 in April, 2021. Have been unable to setup the driver authorization system since purchase. Repeated attempts to contact customer service for assistance result in hold time exceeding 1 hour. The one time I was able to get through the info forwarded was that a software glitch was the problem. Here is one of the prestige auto companies not able to fix a software glitch in many months. Further reacted attempts to cont act them have failed Phone results in holds, no email access provided, chat indicates there is a software problem. No way to express dissatisfaction. Would I buy another AUDI. Vey doubtfull

2nd Road Trip - 1 Summer - 2 Major Issues
Bought 2021 Q5 PHEV March 2021. Aside from what I would call general user interface issues (ex: turn on sequence not intuitive, CARPLAY often unresponsive, display just goes “dark” intermittently for no reason) which I’d call personal preference and minor annoyances, it’s been OK. But this summer this car with ~30K miles has had TWO major issues while I’ve been in out of state road trips which in my book is just unacceptable & scary. 1st- “Electrical system: malfunction! Safely stop vehicle” while in Durango (~2wks from the completed 30K service btw) and now while gearing up to drive back from Coronado, CA to Phoenix,AZ, the catalytic converter malfunction light comes on last night, today disappears, and now the A/C is inoperable! I am getting ready to drive across the desert to Phoenix tomorrow (with 2 kids) in the same car that was fixed (for the 1st issue - bad control switch to HVPS which I now understand could have stranded us at any time) and had a “multi pt inspection” less than 2 weeks ago, with NO A/C and record temps. Reading these reviews (which I sought out in frustration), it seems I’m not alone in these reliability woes. Paying $50+K for a car with these kinds of issues 2 years in = fix it, then dumping it.
Limp mode at 1300 miles
I have owned this Q5 for 5 weeks. Suddenly, all of these failure messages started popping up and vehicle would barely move. Dealer said “computer glitch”, reset computer and installed updates. Picked up vehicle, check engine light back on. Now Audi says it’s the throttle body and ordered a new one. I’m very skeptical. I hope this isn’t a common problem. I’m not happy with my first Audi. I need reliable transportation. I don’t feel confident in this vehicle. Would like to hear I’m an isolated problem. But seems to be a popular problem UPDATE: Audi dealer found defective throttle from factory and replaced it with a new one. Ordered on Saturday and picked up car today, Tuesday 9-28-21. Runs great and problem gone.

Horrible Purchase
I've had this vehicle since June of this year. Since than, the vehicle has had multiple failures of electronic systems. Starting with the Pre-sense. The system has failed 4 weeks into the ownership. Since than things got worse. The seatbelt system has been recalled. Followed by a total failure of the safety module. At 70 mph an hour the car showed a full system failure flashing all warning lights. Started slowing down and rolled all of the windows down. After returning vehicle for repairs, the module was changed to a new one. The vehicle stayed with the dealer for 2 weeks before being returned. We had it for another month , and we are now experiencing a pre-sense failure once again. We are contemplating returning the car as a lemon.

Computerized failure in 3 weeks
I leased new 2021 Q5 premium plus. It fails after 3 weeks. The performance as good as always of Audi mechanical but electrical failure that unacceptable. I am worry if I have to stuck with it for 3 years.
Disappointing Experience with Audi Q5
Two years ago, my family and I decided to lease an Audi Q5, hoping to enjoy a premium, comfortable driving experience. Unfortunately, our expectations were far from met, and we feel compelled to share our negative experience with potential buyers. Subpar Build Quality: The Q5's build quality left much to be desired. Despite being marketed as a luxurious SUV, the materials used felt cheap and flimsy. The constant noise we experienced, especially on bumpy roads, only made matters worse. Inadequate Soundproofing: We expected a serene and peaceful cabin, but the Q5 failed to deliver. The poor soundproofing allowed a significant amount of road and wind noise to enter the cabin, making every journey less enjoyable. Unreliable Engine Performance: In the two years of owning the Q5, we experienced numerous engine issues. Even though it had been regularly serviced, the engine was simply not reliable, causing us to question Audi's engineering standards. Slow and Inefficient Service Centers: Each time we needed to take the Q5 to an official Audi service center, we were met with slow service and long waiting times. This only added to our frustration with the vehicle, as we had hoped for a smooth and efficient maintenance experience. Frustrating Leasing Experience with Audi Financial Services: Our experience with Audi Financial Services was far from pleasant. Their payment systems were consistently glitchy, causing unnecessary delays and complications. This, combined with a lack of proper customer support, made the leasing process more of a hassle than it should have been. In conclusion, the Audi Q5 was a major disappointment for our family. We expected a luxurious, reliable, and comfortable SUV but were met with poor build quality, constant noise, unreliable engine performance, and a frustrating leasing experience. We would not recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a premium SUV.

Rara Avis!
I just bought my used PHEV in April of 2023 with almost 40,000 of mainly highway miles. I’ve wanted an Audi for many years, but I never thought I could find one at such a reasonable price. My wife still wonders why the Audi was selling at such a great price; even CARFAX said it was a super deal. It was an offer I couldn’t refuse. After owning the PHEV for several months and putting on a couple thousand problem free miles, I’m beginning to realize the PHEV is indeed a rare bird in the Audi lineup, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s fast, quiet, and handles great. Is it perfect? Far from it, but it’s become my dream car, even though it takes forever to charge with an ordinary 120 V household outlet. However, after charging the first time at my home I got 33 miles of electric only driving (Audi only advertises 19 miles), but the German automakers are always conservative with their numbers. For anyone wondering, you never have have to plug it in to get at least 33-44 mpg combined. The battery never discharges to 0%. There is always a reserve of at least 15%-20% to let the PHEV operate as a mild hybrid providing the instant torque off the line. The battery is kept charged by regenerative braking like any other hybrid. The biggest cons are no oil dipstick, no direct tire pressures (the tire pressures are determined by tire circumference), and no spare tire! Also, contrary to many car websites, premium gas is not required; only recommended. You can use regular for slightly less performance if you prefer according to Audi. All in all, my PHEV is a great compact SUV. Update 7/1/24: After over 10,000 trouble free miles my Q5 still rides and handles like the day I bought it. My only complaint is the exorbitant maintenance costs, but you don’t buy an Audi, new or used, to save money. Update 1/3/25: Just passed 54,000 on the odometer and still no issues whatsoever.

One year report: zero problems, fun to drive
I've have this 2021 PP Q5 for one year now and have had zero issues. Car is fun to drive, although the electronic steering steals some of the fun by reducing road feel. Often get 30+ MPG on the highway and have reached as high as 35. In traffic, somewhere between 25 and 29. Acceleration is awesome - great engine/transmission combination. Some people find the seats too firm but I think they are just fine - especially for long trips - good back support which is more important to me than being cushy. The Kumho tires that came with the car are much better than I expected, and better than the Continentals that I had on my 2018 Q5.
PHEV for the win!
Love this car - we get about 20-25 miles a charge and that’s enough for our local errands and trips - we drove 600 miles in the first week on a single tank of gas since we were charging it every night and operating pure EV for half those miles. 360hp takes off like a rocket, traffic jam mode basically drives for you under 40mph on the highway, great CarPlay integration with Siri and overall just a fun quiet comfortable car. Main complaint is that the seats are really uncomfortable - my wife seems to have no problem with them but to me they’re stiff and cause back pain - if it weren’t for ergonomic cushions I wouldn’t be able to drive this car it’s that bad. Another minor annoyance is that I tend to sit far back which makes the touchscreen hard to reach - it would’ve been nice to have the option of a control knob like the old MMI. Finally if I were to do it all over again I would’ve gone for prestige instead of premium plus for the matrix headlights alone - it’s a minor difference but given it’s the face of the car I wish we’d have gone for it. I can see keeping this car 5-6 years before going all electric with the supposed Q6 EV coming out.

Avoid Q5
The Audi Q5 is for some reason categorized as luxury SUV. Let´shave a closer look to its real performance and suitability as family car. Chassis –The Audi dealer has ensured me that the standard chassis in combination with 19 inch wheels is very comfortable, so I haven´t ordered the optional air suspension also because of delivery issues in 2022. Well, it isn´t. This combination on the contrary to his presentation is that uncomfortable that it doesn´t fit for a normal daily use. You will feel in your back each, even the smallest road roughness or damage. The standard OEMs are able to provide higher comfort chassis solutions without air suspension, why should Audi get additional payment for the same? Interior front part The problem with the missing comfort continues in the interior of the car. The seats are uncomfortable too and it is very difficult to find the right driving position. On the center console there are just two small drawers, so small that they aren´t good for anything. Below the elbow rest you have the smallest compartment in the class. Additionally you will have here the slideable phone charger which closes either this space or the cupholders which is the only loading compartment of reasonable size. The material selection is far from the level of luxury. The plastic materials aren´t really soft. The materials are in best case on the level of the standard class. On the other hand you will get piano gloss on the middle console that isn´t practical anywhere. Audi has decided to remove from the middle console the remote control of the touch display, so the only option is to work with the touchscreen directly during driving which is no real fun. The navigation doesn´t provide you automatically alternative routes if there is a traffic issue in front of you. You have to hit the respective tiny button on the touchscreen during your drive. Interior rear seats I am 179 cm tall, and in my driving position I had to push the seat backwards so much, that on the rear seat behind me my legroom is at zero. The tunnel is just huge and tall, the car is definitively no 5 seater. The investment into the rear seat package doesn´t make sense, it just allows to pull the rear seats forward thus further reducing the unsufficient legroom. Trunk The size would be appropriate, but the surface isn´t flat and there are no hooks for bags. Summary If you consider the Q5 as family car, you should consider twice before you buy it. I find it deceptive that this car will be compared to the GLC or X3. In terms of luxury level and driving comfort it is just not comparable. If any comparison is needed than from the low cost segment. Audi is simply selling low costs solutions for premium price.

2023 Q5 plug in hybrid
I've had the Q5 for under two years. The car has been in the shop five times because it unexpectedly dies when driving it. It doesn't give any warning, it just shows the warnings as it happens. Very dangerous situations include driving 70 mph on highways, much lower speeds on local driving streets. The dealership put on over 500 miles on test drives stating that the car is fine. Picked up the car and it died 12 miles before I could make it home.

2021 Audi Q5 after driving about 1200 miles.
Fast speeds with fun tight handling. The step down speed off the line is a mixed review. The 2021 Q5 will take off fast and pass other quickly most of the time. Automatic windshield wipers are nice but not perfect on the speed sometimes. Automatic Led headlight make other drivers mad. LED is very nice for the driver but not nice to have follow you. My wife said she hated me driving behind her at night. Lots of fun to drive overall. Looks are perfect for a small SUV. Automatic power windows are nice to have in front and back if they would work better. Should have better control of when to automatic window and when not. Seat heaters are great! Seat comfort is not great. We probably will not be buying a 2021 Audi Q5. More car shopping for us.

Q5 2021 compared with Q5 2014
I write this review to express my opinion of the 2021 Q5 Premium compared with the 2014 Premium Plus which I traded in (owned from new). Improvements: the design is sharper, interior layout has improved, especially placement of the start/stop button and the easier to use temperature and fan controls. Acceleration and handling is sharper, and brakes more efficient and no longer squeak. What's worse: The ride is more firm, tire noise from the Continentals is worse than the Michelins, there is excessive wind noise even at 40mph, the glove box and central storage are smaller. In the trunk the under floor storage 'cubby holes' are gone because of the new emergency tire system. The information screen is no longer embedded in the dashboard. The seats feel much firmer, and some of the door plastics are harder. The general feel of the car is that the quality, which Audi is renowned for, has deteriorated. My 2014 had only done 37,000 miles but it had a moonroof which I never used and asI had suffered some skin problems from the sun which penetrated the screen which is supposed to protect one. Audi will tell you that it gives 98% UV protection, but for how long? I live in Florida where dealers of some makes are now installing tints on the front side windows before releasing the car. My observation is that 95% of owners do not use the sunroof/moonroof. Audi is guilty of great waste and forcing buyers to have an unnecessary moonroof if they want the convenience package only available with a Premium Plus or special order. Overall I am greatly disappointed with my new Q5 and I fear that it's the last Audi I will buy.

Good gas mileage if it is the right fit
My driving is mostly shorter trips. So far I drove 5000 miles, about 70% fully electric at 73MPG + electricity. With an empty battery in hybrid mode, I am averaging about 35MPG in city driving and getting about 25 miles of electric range in the city.

Beyond expectation!
I was a little unsure whether to purchase Audi Q5 or another brand. At the end I choose Audi— definitely the best decision. The Premium Plus trim is great and technology is out of this world. Highly recommended it will never disappoint. Driving Audi, beyond the craftsmanship, it truly amazing experience that will leave you speechless.

Do not recommend
I bought a 2021 Q5 and have had nothing but problems since day 1. Audi Connect didn’t work for 6 months. Then Drive Assist thru 2 wheels into a ditch. You have to connect each time you get in the car. You have to select audio each time. Car Play doesn’t stay connected. Today it hard breaked when I tried to backup w/ no obstacles. Recall. Trading this vehicle asap.
