Used 2005 Acura TL Consumer Reviews
Acura TL
I've had this car for two months and so far it is wonderful. Fun to drive, comfortable and reasonably economical. My only complaints at this time are somewhat more road noise than I expected, and a wider turning radius than anticipated.
Cheaper than Lexus - twice the features
This is a great car that after 3 years of ownership I still love. Beautiful styling, excellent fit and finish. The nav system is incredibly accurate (although I was not impressed with the upgrade DVD which cost $250 and was not much more helpful than the original one) Why did they stop making DVD Audio, the quality is phenomenal in this stereo.
Value and Design
TL has good all-around design and best value in mid-size sport sedan segment. Engine and transmission smooth. Audio system with DVD is audiophile quality. Seats are really nicely sculpted and supportive like a glove. Initial gas mileage was awful, but after 30 days it improved to 20 mgp city and should get better over the next 2 months. Ride is firm, well damped, but feels very precise, like the name of brand. Don't drive fast enough to feel torque steer, but do feel tugs over rippled pavement. On balance, a wise buy.
Ownership
The Navigation system is the best that I have ever seen or used. The XM Satellite radio is a pleasant feature, particularily if you drive long distances or have a long commute. Visibility when backing is a bit restricted, which is the only short coming, if any. Sport car acceleration, steering and handling. Every appointment except headlight washers and exterior turn indicators on the side mirrors. Side moldings are extra, but well worth it. I really enjoy driving this automobile. Replaced an Infiniti Q45, so although downsized, did not surrender much. I highly recommend it. A lot of car for the money when compared to comps in BMW, Volvo, Infiniti etc.
2004 TL
I love this car. It is exciting every time I get in it. I've had no problems, but have a curious situation. The fuel tank claims to be over 17 gallons, but even when running on empty I have never been able to put more than 13 gallons in without the automatic cut-off kicking in and then I can only get more gas - up to 3 gallons or so - into the tank in short bursts. This is a pain. The dealer finds no problem.
