Best Yet
Having never written a review before this I feel compelled to do so now. I have owned many vehicles in my 60+ years including several recent Infinitis and I must say after 1 1/2 years with this TL this is the best of all of them. I have the model w/navigation and wouldn't think of buying a car without it from now on. This car is fun to drive and gets over 30 MPG on the highway. I put on 25K- 30K miles per year and this car has held up great with no problems at all.
WONDERFUL CAR
This car is fun to drive, and its packed with luxury functions. I've had mine for a little over a year now, I've had a lexus is300, bmw 325i, and i like the acura tl MUCH better.
The best car I've ever driven!!!
I've got to tell you that cars typically do not excite me, I've had dozens of new company cars all my life... but this one is different. The TL makes me want to drive, it begs to be thrown into turns, it pleads for you to pass slower traffic, it demands you go buy 70's Rock DVD-Audio discs and play them very loud. And yet it does all this while maintaining the image a 47-year old like me needs to portray. If I had to sum up the driving experience in 3 words it would be exhilarating, confident and fun. Go buy this car... you won't be disappointed.
Dream Car
I had been researching the Acura TL for 2 years before we purchased. I love the newer (2004& up) styling. That first caught my eye. Then I test drove one and realized it had a quiet ride and really had the power I have been wanting. This year at the Auto Show in Portland, my husband and I spent a lot of time at the Acura booth with the TL. After the show, we went and purchased our TL with the Navigation. The Navigation is such a treat, we will never get lost again. We are very happy with our TL and knowing it is a Consumers Digest Best Buy and one of the Top 10 most popular cars sold in America, it's just the icing on the cake. We will enjoy it for many years. I give it 5 stars all then way
Good Choice
I have had the TL for 10 months now with 7500 miles on it. I have not had to bring it to the dealer for any defects at all.The built quality is ok, but not at the Lexus or Bmw standard. Suspension is stiff, and the seats are not as comfortable as they should be. Audio system is excellent.Unfortunately blind spots are a problem , and the sideview mirrors are too small. It takes a while to get use to driving the car because of this. Acceleration and power are excellent. I have been averaging 22 combined mpg. Overall the TL is an excellent choice and very reliable.
This is An Awesome Car!!!
My TL is fun to drive. I only buy cars made by Honda. The TL is very good on gas (26 mpg). I like the sporty style of the car. I get a lot of compliments on my TL. It drives perfect. I would not trade my TL for another car. I love it!!
Best $34,000 you can spend
The TL provides you with a quiet interior, supportive seats and decent handling. My last car was a sports sedan, so I am used to tighter cornering than the TL allows for. Great sound system; steering wheel controls a little inconvenient-can't switch CDs in multidisk player without removing hands from wheel. Handles well in the snow with stock tires. Dual climate control adjusts quickly, heated seats heat quickly. Tons of features packed into this car. Very sophisticated dash with combo of metal, wood and black trim. Ample room for adults in the back seat. Inconvenient that the rear seat does not fold down. Also, poor turning radius-it's easier to back this car in to parking spots. Highly recommended!
The Best Car
I absolutely love this car! The way Acura designed this vehicle is just amazing. They did it with the driver in mind. Everything is within reach, without taking your eyes of the road. Handsfree navigation system is great, with a press of a button you can ask for the nearest atm, gas station, Acura dealer, restaurant, climate control, stereo control. Overall this is the best car I have ever owned. Whenever I have a chance I alway refer everyone I know to Acura when they are looking to purchase a vehicle.
What an awesome vehicle
I bought my TL at the end of March 2004. I love everything about it. It drives with ease and performs exceptionally well. The interior is something I enjoy every time I get in the car. The navigation system is easy to use and has already paid for itself with 6 months use. I consistently get 29 to 30 mpg on pure highway driving. This amazes me since it is so powerful and responsive to drive. The sound system is awesome and I elected to subscribe to XM radio after my free 90 day subscription expired. I considered BMW and Lexus models in the same class but felt that the Acura TL offers the best value $ for $. I highly recommend this vehicle. Buy it. You won't be disappointed!!
Luxury & Performance at its BEST.
My old car was an 2007 Accord Coupe EXL. It was boring. I didn't want to pay for a car I didn't like driving so I traded it for a used Acura TL. Best decision I ever made! I picked up my black TL with 60K miles on it. Yeah that's a lil high but Acuras are known to last a long time. I LOVE this car! Looks clean and sporty on the outside, nice and luxurious on the inside. Performs as good as it looks! Picks up fast off the line. My TL came with the underbody spoiler kit and 18" A-spec wheels! Looks so nice! I couldn't say no at the dealership! It has every single option available. Navi, heated seats, auto dim mirror, everything. I can't say enough about this car! Highly recommend it.
Excellent Sport Luxury Sedan
The 2005 Acura TL has exceeded my expectations. It has been defect free and gets reasonable gas mileage overall (26 mpg). The TL is really fun to drive even in the metro area I live in. I see no tire concerns cited by others (2004 model). Form and fit is outstanding. Easy access to internal controls on steering column and console. Sound system is first class and superior to other luxury sedans. Satellite radio is fabulous and strongly recommended. LED instrumentation outstanding day/night. The safety features were also a strong selling point. I have not wavered in my belief that this was the right car choice over the BMW 530i, Cadillac CTS, and Infiniti G35.
My TL
This car has been a complete joy. For Under $40k this car has every option a consumer could possibly desire. This car moves out of the way and comfortably fits 3 plus a carseat with plenty of room to spare. I wouldn't give this car up for the world.
Couldn't Be Happier!
Researched a lot of vehicles. Test drove the lexus GS 300, BMW 3 Series. While the 3 series offered more low end torque. The TL was the complete package. Overall- roomier, with high quality design and OUTSTANDING performance! 270 horsepower with a boatload of standard features. I love this car! You will not be dissappointed with the Acura TL. Luxurious feel, responsive transmission and a real headturner. Nav system, voice activated command interface, and sport wheels and tire package is awesome! Also comes standard with Hands Free link to auto connect with your blue tooth phone.
Luxury + Peformance = TL
Picked up a pre-owned black Acura TL about 4 months ago. I love this car. One of the best cars I've ever owned. My TL came with an OEM body kit and 18" A-spec wheels, looks very clean and aggressive. Interior is nice and comfy. Nice aluminum and wood trim. Big touch-screen navigation is very helpful but software seems dated compared to my wife's Benz navigation. The car picks up pretty quick on the freeway. I'll be going 80 but it feels like I'm going 60. It does drink gas like crazy though. $40 of gas will last about 260 miles only. This is an overall GREAT car. You will not be disappointed.
1st Acura was better
I had an 02 Acura RSX before and the build quality was much better. This one has some rattles and some fit and finish issues. Road noise. Now the pros, great looks, interior design, mpg 32 freeway, 22 city, great value, fast.
Very nice!
At 3 years and over 30k miles, not a single problem, not even a bulb out. Fast, smooth, quiet, fun to drive, it gets 33 mpg at 70 mph on the highway, average is about 25 mpg. Lots of nice options, very nice looking inside and out. We have the 6 speed manual, a much different car from the auto trans ones, much quieter and smoother, as you can shift at 3000 rpm, even with lots of throttle and MOVE, while the auto trans cars want to let the motor rev up a lot (where the power is). That makes things busy and noisy compared to the manual trans cars.
still lovin' this car
42k miles on this and am still enjoying it. Best car I ever owned -- a great blend of sporty-lux-value. The car is fast and quiet, well- behaved on the road, roomy enough for family of 4, fun enough to drive alone on twisties. 6 speed manual tranny is great. No manufacturing or other problems, just normal oil changes and services.
TL Funny to drive...some quirks!
I bought this car used...A lease turn-in. I have loved this car from the get go. I am in my mid-late 30's and it fits me like a "T". Fast, stylist and has all the amenities that I would use (wish but don't have nav). I think the car is quiet but I would agree about the some rattles. I have tried to find most and put an end to them which I have except for a couple which would entail a lot of work. I had to put new brakes on it (because it was a lease turn-in with 36M miles)and I have put about 15000 on it in 7 months. Have done nothing else with it...I owned a 2004 Accord that I put 140M on. Honda/Acura make great cars...I am looking into a used MDX for the wife.
Beats my BMW 3 series hands down
You get a LOT of car for your money. I used to own a 2000 BMW 3 series. The difference between the 2 cars is night & day. The BMW had better handling, no doubt, but thats it. It pales in comparison in every other respect. The TL is beutifully executed - the navi, stereo and bluetooth are seamlessly integrated with the voice control system. It really is a flawless experience. One note. I use a Treo 650 bluetooth phone. The phone needs to be updated from Palm's website for the bluetooth to work correctly with the car. Its a phone problem, nothing to do with the car. Once updated, however, it works beautifully.
Great value but not perfect
It's been 6 months and I'm still happy with the purchase. The car is beautiful inside and out and full of useful gadgets. Performace is strong and I haven't had any mechanical problems with the car. I do have a few complaints. The turning radius is terrible, I'm afraid to do U-turns now for fear that I'll have to do a three pointer. There are too many small rattles for a car in this segment. Then again, I'd rather have rattles than mechanical failure like recent Germans. Desperately needs an MP3 jack and an 8-way passenger seat. The Navi disclaimer needs a permanent bypass, I'm sick of pressing OK everytime. Overall, a good car whose value makes it great.
Best car I've ever owned
This car has a TON of standard features. Quality is first rate. Looks awesome everytime I park it and look back. By far, it's the best car I've ever known. Compared to the G35 coupe, it's a little slower and doesn't shift as smooth, but that's about it. Other than that, this car is 10 times better than a G35 coupe, in my opinion. The quality, radio, seat memory, tilting mirrors, and financing are the top reasons why I got this car over the G35. I'm telling you, this car is AWESOME!
Awesome first luxury car!
I am so glad to be in a well-made vehicle. I am 25 and getting into my career as a commercial interior designer, so this car is still fun to drive for my age, but has the luxury that I need to take my clients around.
Great Car
Extremely stylish vehicle. Head turner, even at five years old. Abundant whiz-bang features in the cabin -- lots of them linked to the particular driver's key fob. Engine is very powerful -- wonderful sound. Front-wheel drive pulls the car forward nicely on dicey roads. Soft leather seats. Xenon headlights which are tightly focused. XM/Sirius radio. European feel on the road. Great value.
Awesome 05 Acura TL
This is the first brand new car I have ever purchased, and I am thrilled! I bought the car I really wanted, and did not compromise. I test drove every $28-45K car on the market and always came back to the Acura TL. No other car could compare. It is beautiful to look at and the interior is unmatched. It drives and rides very smooth and fast. The exhaust has a great tone. The auto trans. is fantastic. I wanted a car that would lose as little $ as possible, and none is better. Everyone loves the GPS Navigation system and the incredible 5.1 DVD audio playing stereo, sounds like the muscians are in the car giving you a private concert!
Excellent Overall Package
I have had this car for 3 1/2 problem free years and believe that it is a great value for its price. I get 20 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway which is very acceptable for a car with this size engine and its performance. The experience with the dealership in regards to service has been better than it has been with any other brand vehicle I had in the past.
Purrfect - even while being totaled....
Loved this car - so much fun. The only problems were rear visibility - I scraped the rear bumper more than once and road noise. A few days ago the car was hit in the front side by a guy in an 87 Lincoln Town Car (89,000 lbs of metal) going through a red light about 30 MPH. It took off the whole front 2 feet of the car. Air bags deployed properly, the cockpit was completely protected and my sweetie, the sole occupant and driver, walked away without serious injuries. I spent a week thinking I might want a different car, just for something fun, but eventually decided (happily so) that a new 2007 Acura TL would be great. So that's what I have now.
Great Birthday Gift!
I bought my TL for my birthday and have been happy ever since. After months of researching the TSX, I checked out the TL and never looked back! I purchased mine from a private owner and got a great deal! Don't be fooled by the dealers who want you to think that you get so much more buying a CPO. More money for no reason. The owner who sold the car also had an 06 TL and said the 05 drove a little faster. Apparently there was some change in that year. Oh well, my gain!
Great car - first year of ownership
I love this car! This November 2006, I will have owned the car for one year (approx. 9800 miles) and the experience has been terrific. I never thought that I would like a sedan, but this car has everything to enjoy. The navigation is especially user friendly; never had a problem with it and has always been accurate. The seating is comfortable on long and short hauls. The interior quality so far is very good; I have the parchment colored leather and it is easily soiled, so you have to keep up on cleaning it often. The TL is very quick considering its size. Love the get-up-and-go of the 270 horses.
Love those Acuras!
I absolutely love this car. In fact, it is our second TL, our fourth Acura, and my daughter has now purchased her second Acura. This car is very sharp looking inside and out. On the highway, we get 33 mpg. I have not experienced any of the rattles or noise that others have noted. The ride is smooth and quiet - takes curves great. There have been no mechanical problems whatsoever. I've had the car for three years now and am definitely an Acura fan! Acura is extremely quality conscious.
Terrfic TL
I have always driven Hondas and have wanted a TL since they changed the body in '04. Finally bought a used '05 in Oct of '08. Love it! Sharp looking, powerful, comfortable, reliable, relatively economical. Mine is silver with gray leather. Bought it with 25k on it and I've put 28k on it since acquiring it. I commute 33 miles to work 1 way. Have seen 33 mpg on the highway a couple of times but average 31 on hwy. City driving is a bit more dismal in the high teens. Overall average is 25-26 mpg.
Best car ever built
My name is orlandle jenkins I bought my 2005 acura tl 20 years ago it's been the greatest investment ever I have 370,000 miles and it still drives like a new car I'm so grateful for acura making it and I will never stop driving it it's been my only car for 20 years and never ever had a problem with it salute to acura corporation as a whole for a outstanding product. Thank you

love it!
First time buyer and first time I've said I'd buy another one. Very comfortable for long trips and lots of gadgets!
Great Car
I purchased this TL in April. Love the car with only one real complaint. The Seats are hard to keep clean.. The dye from jeans bleed right into the leather. The seats are tan so they look dirty. Other than that this is a wonderful car.
Bad experience
Love the look. I went with Acura after looking at everything from BMW to Benz. Fun to drive, great color (black with blue specks over gray) and very comfortable interior. However, it has been the most unreliable car I have owned as an adult. Numerous trips back to the dealer for mechanical issues, interior rattles like crazy, lousy roadside assistance (I've had to call them 4 times in 9 months). I will be trading it in on a Lexus or BMW as soon as I get it back from service (again).
My first luxury car
I have owned this car since March of 2005. So far it's been a joy to drive, lots of pep and good handling. I looked at the Lexus and Infiniti but after reading reviews and comments from people who own one I chose the Acura for value, reliability and all the features that were included as standard equipment.
2005 Acura TL
I love my car. I especially find the nav system very easy to use.
Not what it is cracked up to be!
Just bought the 2005 TL. Nice interior. Loaded with gadgets. The truth of the matter is...not impressed. I have only driven the car for 700 miles thus far, but have already formulated several strong opinions. Here are the facts. Averaging 23 MPG. Stereo system not as impressive as my previous Infiniti I30t. Voice command rarely responds appropriately (maybe I have an accent). Paint job appears flawed (Black car). Seats not as comfortable as most competing cars. In a nutshell, if given the opportunity to buy again, I would go with a Infiniti G35 in a heartbeat. Will update several months later.
Excellent Idea, Horrible Execution
Fell in love with this car when I bought it now I CANNOT STAND IT, all within less than 6 months! Why? Rattles, Rattles, and more Rattles Mislaligned body parts, especially trunk that rubs and has paint chipped off and rust on it! Very poor water based paint used. Chips started on drive home from dealer and haven't stopped. Paint mottling (swirling on doors) uneven paint application at factory! Looks like an army camouflage vehicle under certain lights! Cheap leather on seats that has more wrinkles than a 120 year old lady's face. Wrinkle in seat within first 500 miles and it only gets worse. If you get black its gets even better! DASHBOARD FADES TO A MILKY WHITE COLOR! ALL TLs DO IT!
Great Car!
This is the first time I actually test drove a variety of cars in the same class. Some I liked and some I didn't but in the end we chose the TL and have not regreted it a bit. We now have 29000 miles on it and it has been great! Power is great along wioth good mileage. The Dealer has also treated us well and gave us a better then fair price for it to. It does have a bit of torque steer at times and is going through tires alittle faster the I would like but I can't say that's not part of our fault. the Navigation system is very good along with the XM and DVD audio when you can find a good one to put in. A great car that gets my wife and two boys where they want to go safe a Fast.
Great looks, poor quality
I ordered my 2005 Acura TL Navi 6MT back in November of 2004 and took it home right off the truck when it arrived. Initially I had no problems with the car, it looked great inside and out and was a huge upgrade over my 2004 Maxima which I sold a few month earlier. The performance was great and the manual transmission was a blast to drive. However no less than 3 months into my owner ship I started having problems; first I had to have an axle replaced, and things started going downhill from there. 7 years and nearly 60k miles later, there were way too many problems, including two door actuators, rattles everywhere, poor leather seat quality, and things literary falling apart on the inside
STAY AWAY
I purchased this car used with 79000 miles which i did not see as a problem as the time because I owned a 00 Honda Accord that I purchased with high miles. 1 month after the purchase everything went down hill..rattling through the car - power seats stop working - calipers going bad and grinding the rotors. I have really lost respect for Honda I am just waiting to be done with Honda and get a Fusion.
Hond has lost it's way
The exterior paint job on this car is HORRIBLE. You will have to repair paint chips as soon as you exit the dealer. For 30k + you have got to be kidding me. I really LOVE most eberything else My biggest gripe at this point is the poor paint job that results in scratches from the simple everyday driving, but then I only have 4000 miles on it. So I guess it will get worse with the noises and stuff, like everyone else. I will trade this in for a nissan as soon as I pay off the note. What is the most imortant aspect of a vehicle (how it LOOKS) that's one of the biggest reasons we choose the car we choose.
Not Worth It! Too many issues...
The 2005 Acura TL is a sharp looking car but has way too many issues. Every time we don't use the car for 2-3 days it dies. Terrible reliability. I do not reccomend this car.
Gadget Guy loves the TL
Before buying I researched the TL, G35 and BMW 3 series. I chose the TL for the styling and tech features. Plus, everything came included for a very reasonable price. Sacrifice was in power and handling, but barely. I'm no racecar driver, so for me, the TL has plenty of power to get out of a sticky situation. I am still very impressed with my TL's interior design. I love how even the dash is made of quality material, not molded plastic. The brushed steel and black carbon fiber style trim really makes for an impressive look. The back seats are plush and comfortable, but a tad tight for large people. The trunk is a bit small, but a fair trade-off for the body design.
Transmission problem
Transmission shifts into 3rd and 5th gears at low driving speeds resulting in a grinding noise; the two head lights are not designed to evenly spread light on the road ( one is higher than the other ; the doors are so flimsy that the door speaker is rattling; the tires wore out in 25000 miles; navigation does not show the shortest routes
Lot of car for the money
Have only had the car for 3 weeks but am very impressed with all aspects so far. Before buying my TL I considered the Toyota Avalon (very tempting), the Infiniti G35, and the Lexus ES. For the price the TL offered more features as standard equipment than the others. I find it hard to understand some reviews that I read which were very critical of the quality, ride, etc. I hope my favorable impression does not change in the future.
Awesome
Performance is unbelievable. style, luxurious, sporty all in one. Great vehicle. Highly recommended
Good Value
I decided to go back to the Honda line of cars, felt they were a better value than others. I am coming from a 99 Lexus ES 300, loved the car, but wanted something a little sportier. It took a little while to get used to the stiffer ride, but I have now adjusted and am having a great experience. I test drove the MB E320 before this car, and better sense came over me. Give me the TL and $20K cash any day. The Acura has a tight feel and great 'get up and go'. I feel it is one of the better looking cars on the market, and the upkeep should be more cost effective than the other brands. Looking forward to many years with this car.
Best car owned so far!
Only one thing bad is the turning! And original tires are bad too.
Rattling Sound
Bought a new 2005 TL. Love the power, sound, responsiveness. Only 1800 miles, and dealership cannot fix rattling sound. Now dealing with Acura's Customer Representative, dead-end there. Tells me its a known problem with this model. I got a lemon.
