Used 2005 Acura RL Consumer Reviews
Want to drive!
Advanced Technology is everywhere in this car. What a fun car to drive. I moved up from a 2002 RL, which I enjoyed driving. The '05 RL is a different beast. The Audio is top shelf. Bluetooth technology is great allowing handfree cell phone use. Ride is great with excellent handling features and power to spare. I like the SH-AWD feature with the 300 hp. Not a family sedan (due to limited leg room in rear) nor in the same class as the MB S, BMW 6/7, or Lexus LS. But nor is the price. You can save yourself $20 - 40 k over`those other cars. It's amazing Acura placed so much new technology into the new RL with such a modest price increase over the 'old' RL.
best car i've ever owned
Undoubtably the best car I have ever owned, and I've been through quite a few. Great combination of performance and comfort. Recently drove 525 miles with one brief stop. Made great time and avergaed 27 mpg. Was not the least bit tired when I got home. I give the credit to the RL - driving is not work in this car. Technology is awesome. Navigation system has been on the mark 100% of the time. Have 10000 miles without a glich. Last car, 2003 Volvo XC70, had 3 visits to dealer by now. Trunk a bit small and kids (3) wish for a little more width in back seat. Highly recommend it.
First rate car - fun to drive
Audio is first class with superior sound. Speed, cornering, braking is excellent. Comfortable seating with ease of locating dials and knobs to operate this vehicle. Hands free phone linking along with a superb GPS system. Overall this is the car of the year. Well done Acura, you guys have exceeded my highest expectations.
First Blush
So far I'm satisfied. It does what I expected. (My third Acura) However I am a little concerned/puzzled about the "throttle by wire" feature. I don't know if it's a characteristic of the system, or there is a fuel injection problem. When I nudge the accelerator the vehicle hesitates, almost as if one snubed the brake, before it moves forward. I'd appreciate reading about others' experience in this regard.
Superb car except for choppy ride
I've got 2000 miles in now. Great car overall, AWD gives confidence on wet roads. Handling is very precise. But tight handling comes at a price: a rough, choppy ride, disappointing for Acura's flagship car. Electronics including GPS navigation, superb Bose sound system with fully integrated satellite radio, are grand. Has a disconcerting rattle in potholes.
