Unless you opt for the new-for-07 V8 Sport model, the XC90 feels fairly heavy and ponderous.
General ride comfort, wind & road noise are acceptible for most customers. Second- and third-row entry and exit are a little more difficult than in larger SUVs. Third-row seats should not be contrued as regular-use seating.
Functionally, the XC90 is solid. Maximum cargo capacity is quite good. There are a number of upgradable options that enhance the XC90's function: bi-Xenon headlamps (cornering/leveling), audio, navigation, DVD video, blindspot warning system, and so on.
Built like an armored vehicle with tight tolerances and blocky shape. Like the exterior, the interior is restrained and authentic in an very Swedish way.
Family Friendly
Perhaps it goes without saying, but the XC90 is designed with families in mind, both in terms of safety and function.
Comfortable
The XC90 in all its forms is comfortable, from the base model to the Sport model.
Cargo Hauler
Cargo volume is meager with all-three rows occupied, but swells considerably when seats are stowed.
